To me, it does. I love the stuff.

There are several differences between Golden Extra and BLB. GE is sweeter without the light edge that BLB has, which comes from white burley. Never noticed any licorice from GE, though.
Almost half way through this bowl of Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a very much appreciated 1979 brown, slight bend grain etched flat front Stanwell Rego 969-48 (09) with a black vulcanite stem.

Jumpin’ Railcars and Collectin' Cans
First pipe of the day is Balkan Sasieni in a MM Legend cob. I'm becoming quite fond of this blend. It took me many years to come round to an appreciation for any blend with latakia, used to think they all tasted like soap, but in the last 3 years or so I've developed a taste, and sometimes even a craving for them. I've read a number of reviews on this blend. Some rate it highly, some not so much, but the common thread in the unfavorable reviews seems to be that it's not Balkan Sobranie. I've never had the opportunity to sample that blend, so cannot make a comparison, but I enjoy this enough to have just ordered several more tins.
Edit: While I do enjoy this I have to admit to finding the room note rather foul.

You might give Peter Stokkebye Proper English a go. I found them quite similar, the stokkebye having slightly less depth of flavor but being cheap in bulk.
