Jumpin’ Railcars and Collectin' Cans
As a young boy I lived on an old farm in North Gorham, Maine, and every summer I'd spend one month with my widowed grandmother in the big city of Portland. She was a small woman, less than 5 feet tall and looked like the stereotypical grandmother of that era, gray hair in a bun, always wearing an apron. But where she differed from other grandmothers is that she was a rabid baseball fan. In the large china cabinet in the dining room were baseball memorabilia and knickknacks, and on the wall were pennants for the Boston Red Sox, and for a time, the Boston Braves until she finally gave up hope of them ever returning and took them down. The house was an old two story and throughout the house she had radios set to the station that broadcast the Red Sox games. Before game time she would go through the house turning all the radios on so she would never miss a play as she moved throughout the house doing her chores. I credit her with instilling in me a love of baseball and the Red Sox. They were a terrible team in those years but she never gave up on them. Her eyes would light up as she told me of the last time they won the World Series, 1918, the year she graduated high school. Her wish was to see them win it again in her lifetime. Sadly, she never did, but when they finally won in 2004, my thoughts were with her and all the others who waited a lifetime for the championship that never came. And this is why I'll root for the Cubs in the Series, for all those who waited but never saw it.
By the way, I'm smoking Dunhill Royal Yacht in a Mark Tinsky rusticated bent bulldog as I type this.

A most entertaining story! Thanks. My dad was an Atlanta Braves fan who never missed a game, usually on the radio but on TV in later years. He took me to see Hank Aaron break Babe Ruth's record when I was a kid. Sure miss him.
Last night I had a bowl of In-B-Tween Mixture by Smoker's Haven in a Sunrise Amber Grain Dublin. This blend is growing on me; didn't like it the first time I smoked it.
@Shemp Jizzle
sent it to me in a bomb many months ago.

Anxious for my Sunday trip to Kaiserhof – hoping that the Octoberfest special, beef brisket with horseradish sauce, is on the menu for the 4th week in a row. Then off to the nearby pistol range, where I'll shoot my Beretta 87 Target (.22LR).
Alternating fills of DF and Solani 656, Aged Burley Flake.
