Much better IMO.
The drying really cuts down the Lakeland and the pepper and lets the fruity flavors come through that I was enjoying so much before.
The bowl still starts out pretty peppery but it settles down before too long and becomes very tasty.
Glad that it was better Bill
I fill/pack pretty loose (and tamp a little tighter as needed). It is a very fruity tobacco .

2015 Gawith Hoggarth Louisiana Flake in a 1984 Ser Jacopo Renaissance #306, sandblasted taper billiard. With coffee light.
Just received this pipe today from Smoking Pipes after @SirMotoyoshi alerted me that it was for sale and it was bought in seconds. Than you Andrew!
Big billiard, beautiful balance and easy in the mouth. Even with a loose stuff it took about 7-8 grms of tobacco and I've been smokng it for almost 3 hours with no end in sight.
I rarely smoke flakes in anything other than thick walled smooth pipes that retain a little more heat than rough surface pipes. The retained heat warms the VA flakes, bringing out the sugars and making them smoke sweeter. This pipe has the dimensions to be a flake smoker but the sandblasting disburses the heat slightly faster and that mutes the sweetness and increases the 'nuttiness'. I will smoke more flakes in this one, it's smoking superbly, but I'll stick with the smooths for most of my VA smokes. This pipe might well pair well with Royal Yacht, so that will be next for this bruiser.
