I own 260 pipes, but I can't answer the rest of your question because I've never thought about it. I have favorites and a few non-favorites, but that's about as much an answer as I can give. Just never think about it. What pipe I smoke depends on what tobacco I am smoking.
Just finishing this bowl of Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem. Next is Lane Hazelnut in a 2003 IMP horn Meer.
Stonehaven in a 1984 black sandblasted straight Dunhill Shell 4103 Billiard.
Troost Aromatic Match in a slight bend black sandblasted Lorenzo Elba Imperia 8636 with an amber colored acrylic stem.
Bowl of Redcake 5100 in this spiffy Bigben. Thanks @Tobias Lutz

A couple minutes away from smoking Watch City Old Dominion in a 1988 smooth full bend Peterson System Standard XL 315.
Anyone remember David McCarter? I just smoked some Erinmore Flake in a decent sized Pot shape he did for me.
Whoa!! Now that would be some pipe rack. :DQuote:

I remember him. I have a couple of his very early pipes that I bought from him when he was just getting started. I was just looking at his website a couple weeks ago and he has come a long, long way. Gorgeous stuff on there, although I just checked and the site appears to be down now. www.mccarterpipes.com
There are a couple examples of his more recent work in this thread. http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topi...d-mccarter-egg
Now smoking HU Balkan Passion in a medium bend 2001 Ural lattice Rhodesian with a yellow stem with white swirls. Almost finished with this sample. A bottle of 7-Up is my drink. Working!
