I just read @TobiasLutz sample names in the Kentucky Derby Contest and promptly swallowed a voluminous mouthful of
2015 Gawith Hoggarth Scotch Flake Aromatic in a 1983 Ser Jacopo Gemma Granato short taper billiard with gold band.
Had it been Dark Flake I'd be writing from the ER.
St. James Flake in a small meer
Bell's Three Nuns in a John Bessai straight poker.
St. James Plug in a straight sandblasted pre-transition Barling Exel 249 Fossil T.V.F. black billiard with a silver band and military bit.
2015 Gawith Hoggarth Scotch Flake Aromatic in a 1983 James Upshall bX saddle billiard with gold band.
Oh, it isn't that strong..... [emoji14]
Making some coffee and prepping some Solani Aged Burley Flake to go along with it.
Not sure what pipe I'm smoking it in yet. Burley usually equals cobs...but that Savi Alligator is looking appealing as well.
Decisions are tough.
Couple minutes away from smoking HU Nashville County in a smooth 1979 Chippendale (Charatan second) Rhodesian 49.
Couple minutes or so away from smoking Tilbury in a 1979 large calabash briar 221-B Baker Street made in Israel.
GH Louisiana Flake
Earlier, tried a 50/50 blend of Five Brothers and Carter Hall, and it was terrible. I expected them to be somehow compatible, but no. Dumped it out halfway. Then filled my bowl with SWR + 25% Latakia, and that was really nice. If you've got some blending lat, it's worth a try.
Holiday Mixture match in a billiard
Louisiana Red in a 2002 smooth Rinaldo Silver Line 3 EGER 05 paneled horn.
A couple minutes from smoking HU Balkan Passion in a medium bend 2001 Ural lattice Rhodesian with a yellow stem with white swirls. Have enough left for a bowl.
FVF. I think I've got my pipe jitters on the run. I loaded the bowl last night and let it dry all day in the bowl, and the smoking is going fine. You'd think I'd remember that trick.
Just finished smoking Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a 1978 smooth full bend Dr. Grabow Omega. Next is Chatham Manor in a 1979 straight smooth Dr. Grabow Grand Duke 45 pot.
Done with the Aged Burley Flake.
Moving on now to some Dunhill Durbar 2014 release in a 1940s Custombilt :pipe:
Gave up on trying to sleep, so I'm smoking McClelland Master Penman in a 2003 IMP horn Meer. Have just enough left for one more bowl.
As I smoke my first bowl of the day, the 4Dot and RY, I am presented with a new Humira commercial. Okay, what's with the pronunciation? Presented with the word "humira" and asked for possible pronunciations, I would start with the obvious -eye-ruh, -ee-ruh, and -ear-uh, and the three first syllables as hoom-, humm-, or hyume-. Since I can't come up with any use in English, German, Italian, Spanish, or Greek where the letter "i" is pronounced like the "e" in "err", I would have gotten it wrong. I've heard a few of these Humira commercials, mainly when I can't get to the remote in time, but they consistently pronounce it "Hyume-erra". All I can figure is that all of the announcers used in the commercial are from Syracuse, a small city in Central New York where they pronounce the city's name Sarah-cuse.
Another bowl of Aged Burley Flake in a cob this time.
Better flavor so far in the Great Dane over the briar.
Love ABF, and a cob is a great pipe to burn it in. Brings out the sweetness in ABF and complements the burley nicely.
H&H Classic Burley Kake in a MM Diplomat.
Kentucky Club Continental Blend in a Dr. Grabow Big Pipe :pipe:
Finally have internet service back. Just finished smoking Union Leader Match in a smooth 2002 Peterson Sherlock Holmes Series Milverton.
2010 Sutliff 507-C Virginia Slices in a 2003 straight grain Karl Erik Ekstravagant A medium bend freehand sitter.
Gawith Hoggarth & Co rum flake in a MM legend.
edit:
This stuff has a good little kick.
Smoked this bowl on an empty stomach, and I can feel it! Got a little bit of a sweat and skin tingle. (Yes, I'm a lightweight!)
P&C "Banana Split" Carmello in a Dr Grabow "Savoy" straight with a saddle bit stem.
GL Pease Cairo in a Grabow savoy
Tried to post in this thread earlier and it went *poof*. Maybe this one will get through.
2014 Esoterica Scarborough in a 1984 Ser Jacopo L1 (smooth) saddle panel.
Smoked Gawith Hoggarth Bright CR Flake, GH Broken Scotch Flake and Medal of Honor earlier in Ser Jacopos and a Barling. At least that's same old, same old.
Just finished smoking Lane Burley Light Without Bite in a 2015 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend tomato military mount with an aluminum accent, horn ferrule, and cumberland p-lip stem. Next is Virginia Spice in a 1979 pebble relief Verona Corallo 3080 natural Oom Paul.
Thinking about doing battle with another bowl of Durbar....but I really want to try Apertif.
I feel like the Durbar wants to be good. Gotta try it in another pipe. It didn't sing in my Custombilt at all. Very muted flavor. I also smoked it rather wet straight from the tin too though, so I think it deserves a more fair shake.
I'm smoking some 4noggins Weybridge out of my Savi Trevi. Wait, you say, I thought Gar only owned cobs? Well, turns out he added a couple Authors to his burgeoning collection today.

Now smoking 2012 Anniversary Kake in a smooth 1981 Century full bend natural egg. Finished off the Louisiana Red, so this takes its place.
Well, you're in luck, because I happen to have a picture of it handy:

It's an early 2000s Savinelli 602 that I picked up and restored somewhere. I can't remember if it was on ebay or a forum where I bought it. It is a Virginia warrior. Smokes them like a champ. Loves rubbed out flakes as well.
Peter Heinrichs Golden Sliced Flake
Hearth & Home Cerberus in a Grabow pot
Fired up a pipe of Evening Stroll in my Tignanello in the hopes of keeping my wife on the porch. The mosquitos ran her off before the smoke did.

Rather fond of ABF myself. I think burley burns better in a cob than VAs, but not sure why that would be. The last of that can of RY just vanished before dinner (broccoli and pasta, with lots of olive oil, Parmesan, and red pepper), so I've resorted to some Marlin Flake in the FourDot pot which should last me to bedtime. Just transposed moves in a chess game and gave away what might have been a hrad fought draw or conceivably a win. sigh. Like signing an incorrect scorecard or something. "I am such a stupid."
