Thoroughly enjoying some G&H, Brown Twist Sliced in a gourd calabash while drinking gin and soda around a campfire. I don't often have a desire for this blend because it is quite strong and can be harsh if not dried and sipped just so... but when I do it is SO very nice to burn a bowl of this stuff.
Puffing Prince Albert in my Viking Classic Pot. I can remember when Prince Albert could be purchased at virtually every drugstore in America. And many other stores too. Came in a flat-ish tin that would slip into a jacket pocket.
Another bowl of Brown Twist Sliced in the gourd: my Emotional Support Pipe.
BTS was just too good for just one visit.
Hey, maybe I can use the Emotional Support angle to force other people to breathe my second hand smoke! And after registering as a non-smoker to boot ;)
Having some Full Virginia Flake in my Peterson Rocky Donegal.
Puffing Price Albert in my old Kirsten. Quite enjoyable — very mild, and a nice change of pace. Here’s what SmokingPipes says of it:
“An ultra-classic blend of Burley and Cavendish, with just a hint of cocoa and molasses, Prince Albert is the sort of blend your father or grandfather might have smoked.”
If there’s Cavendish, it’s certainly not the dark variety typically found in aromatic blends.
G&H something or other flake in a Peterson spigot billiard.
Need to get a few samples to find out what this stuff really is...

This will be it until the weekend.
Still working in this new Stanwell, one small bowl at a time. Some Lane 1q this time.

Puffing Gordon Pym (Dan Tobacco) in my old Kirsten Mariner. It’s the only English mixture that I really like. Pricey, but very tasty! The Latikia is applied with a light hand. Or perhaps it’s a less virulent form of it.
G&H Cherry Cream Flake in a little Savinelli prince
Puffing Gordon Pym (Dan Tobacco) in my old Kirsten. Not only is this the only English mixture that I like, I actually like it quite a lot. Here’s what Tobacco Reviews says of it:
“This blend contains golden Virginia, Maryland and a little dark fired Virginia that gives this blend a profound flavor. Precious Oriental tobacco gives a soft tangy flavor that is complimented by Syrian latakia. Broad-cut with a slow, even burn, especially in bigger bowls.”
So besides the moderate Latakia, perhaps it’s the “dark fired Virginia” that appeals to me. Solani 660, Silver Flake, is possibly my favorite tobacco, and it has dark fired Kentucky.
Couple coins of PS Bullseye Flake in a dirty ol' cob while standing around the fire pit after a day's work outside.
So nice. Atmosphere is everything.
Oh, and gin and soda to refresh the palate. That helped too :D :D
Recently popped a tin of 2016 S.G. Bothy Flake.
Good stuff!
Puffing Solani 656, Aged Burly Flake, in my Luciano squat bulldog. I don’t smoke a lot of ABF, but get a hankering for it from time to time, and enjoy it.
I bought the Luciano, unsmoked ,for a modest price from the Italian Estates section of SmokingPipes. It smokes nicely, and I like its looks. Very cool in hand too.

G&H Rum Flake in my glass bottom cob. Almost gone now...
Moving on soon to PS Bullseye Flake in my oldest, dirtiest, but sweet smoking MM Legend.
SG Navy Flake in a balsa-bottomed cob.
Such a great blend. I never tire of it.
Smoked the leftover 1/3 of a bowl of G&H Louisiana Flake that I started yesterday. Let's see you try that with a cigar. Started out very peppery but settled down and got sweet and fruity. Smoked it right to the bottom.

My Virginias weren’t going all that well today, so switched to Burley, which is going better. I generally prefer tapered bits on bulldogs, but the saddle bit looks just right on this one.
Lots of pipes this weekend. Too many blends to mention. All in cobs.
A weekend of armed smoking and coffee drinking purporting to be deer hunting.
This evening I am enjoying a bowl of SG FVF in my Savinelli 606 ex while listening to "Cortege" by the "Modern Jazz Quartet".:pipe: Earlier today I had a busy time with the family and am now relaxing. I noted that for last two weeks I have been smoking a lot of SG tobaccos and this evening's smoke is delicious. I am topping off this smoke with a mug of ice cold "Kirkland Craft Brewed Brown Ale" which is absolutely delicious.:beerchug: Costco's Ale is a seasonal
item and I was happy to pick up two cases. The next few days will be a busy time with Thanksgiving, but right now I am "kicked back" enjoying life.:thumb:
I had a bowl of this a couple nights ago. Funny how you LOVE this blend while I do like it but am not too crazy about it. It's probably the DFK. I find I don't like burley - in any form - in my virginias. I wish I could talk you into picking up a tin of Samuel Gawith Navy Flake iin your next order, smoking a few bowls and posting your opinion. I think SGNF has got to be the most consistently tasty blend I've ever smoked. Other blends come and go and I enjoy those too but this is one I never tire of. I imagine your review would probably be something like: "well, it's okay... but I'm not too crazy about it"
:p. :pipe:
G&H Whiskey Twist in a glass bottom County Gentleman
Hi guys!
I've missed you!
Hot 6 months at my new job. It is a lot of work and keeps me from a lot of my previous online activities.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
Puffing Gordon Pym in my dear old Kirsten. Wonderfully flavorful. The only English mixture that I’ve ever liked — a singular blend.
Made my special bacon, peanut butter, and Marmite sandwich for lunch today. On German-baked pumpernickel toast. So good!
This evening I had a bowl of SG Golden Glow in my extra large Sherlock Holmes # 2 pipe.:pipe: I had jars and jars of SG Medium Virginia Flake dating back to the year 2000 but over the years my supply began to get low. I began my search about a year ago to re-supply my stash of this tobacco, but I could not find it; I believed that SG had scrapped this blend.:bawling: Six months ago I finally had my last bowl of this tobacco. Last month I was scanning SG tobaccos on the Four Noggins site and saw Golden glow which I had not heard of and after some investigation I found out that this was my same Medium Virginia Flake under a new name. Fortunately I was able to snag three boxes of this tobacco.:chicken: Dang-it! I really missed this blend. This evenings my smoke was delicious and I now know that everything is right in the world again. I topped off this smoke with a ice cold mug of "Kirkland's Craft Brewed India Pale Ale", and I am totally relaxed.:beerchug:
Rattled through my mason jars for the first time in months....the winter chill and holiday feels has me craving a proper pipe.
Devils Holiday in my Green Peterson should hit the spot.
Hope all the pipers here are well.

I just opened a two yo tin of Wessex Classic Virginia — puffing a fill of it in my Caminetto Pot with silver spigot mount. CV is a red Virginia with a bit of Perique. A savory blend, but very hard to find in-stock.
Haha! I know exactly what you mean. I've got more tobacco stockpiled than I'll ever smoke.
I'm going to have to start hanging around elementary schools and giving away tobacco samplers to the kids. :D
Srsly tho, I have a lot of blends that just sit there and a lot of blends in tins that I'm hoarding (coff coff... McClelland) and then I probably have half a dozen favorites. SGNF is the only blend that gives me the occasional rootbeer (or should I say sassafras) note. It's very nice (as are most SG blends IMO)
SPC Mississippi River in a no-name bent billiard.
Sure don't like this blend as much as I used to. Sorta weak and boring. Needs a coin of Happy Bogie mixed in or something. Maybe it'll wake up a little further down the bowl.
The SPC Mississippi River never did wake up. Also couldn't find my jar of Happy Bogie to try and give it a boost so I gave up, dumped it out and went to bed. Tonight I'm looking to G&H Louisiana Flake to make up for last night's failure.
-edit-
Much better! Gawith tobaccos have flavor. You may or may not like the flavor, depending on your tastes but at least they HAVE flavor.
Puffing Gordon Pym (Dan Tobacco) in my old Kirsten. This is the only English mixture that I like, but I like it a lot. Mild and tasty. I don’t plan to look further for other English mixtures — this is the one for me.
Peterson Elizabethan in a Savinelli 114 KS billiard.
Puffing a 50/50 mixture of Hamborger Veermaster and Gordon Pym (both by Dan Tobacco). Both are mild and tasty. The HV is a straight Virginia, the Pym is an English mixture. A successful experiment.
Merry Christmas, all!
First bowl in almost 2 weeks. Haven't had time for it.
