That's a nice looking Dr. G.

Puffing Hamborger Veermaster in my Tinsky billiard. Such a good tobacco — mild, tasty, burns nicely. Nice room note too. What’s not to like?
Extremely busy few days. This is the time of year my job hits overdrive.
Gonna try to sneak a pipe of Star Of The East along with a Gin and Tonic after the kids go to sleep.

Enjoying a cool, breezy, sunny Sat. a.m. with some percolated Maxwell House and a bowl of 1993 vintage Velvet. Flavor's good, but the vitamin N has pretty much disappeared by this time.
Followed that up with a bowl of homemade flake from 2014. Very nice. & this one still has some vitamin N :)
Sitting here thinking about you guys.Fired up some Fieldmaster in a Lunar Dublin.

Okay,,,Today is FMC in a Swiss BBK
Puffing a new-to-me tobacco: Solani 660, Silver Flake (AKA Silver Label). SmokingPipes says of it:
“Solani Silver Label is a medium to full flake made from ripe red Virginia and spicy, dark-fired Kentucky.”
My initial impression is quite positive — fairly mild, tasty, and quite different from any of my other tobaccos. Flake? It’s damned near fully rubbed out — OK by me though. Dry out of a new tin, it lights and burns easily. Usually available at SmokingPipes.
Silver Flake comes only in rectangular 100g tins. Those don’t seal at all, so I put it into a Weck 742 Mold canning jar, which it filled almost completely.
BTW – I really like the Weck “Mold” jars for tobacco. They’re wide at the top, making it easy to get tobacco in and out. I use the Weck 741 Mold jars for tobacco from 50g tins.

Having a bowl of Bullseye Flake (sans bullseyes) and a glass of red wine
Puffing my new tobacco, Solani 660, Silver Flake, again, now in my Radice Rhodesian. 660 has an enjoyable spicy taste, and no bad habits.

Puffing Solani 660, Silver Flake, in my old Kirsten. Very flavorful, and a bit zippy — just right.
And looking forward to lunch, which will feature a smash burger with garlic dill pickles, raw onion, mustard, and mayo. I make GOOD smash burgers!
I'll take your word for it on that since I don't know what one is and don't feel like Googling it.
MOAR debullseyed Bullseye flake. Maybe this time I'll try it with a Honey Brown lager since wine is for evenings IMO. I was saving the bullseyes since I have an aversion to throwing good tobacco away. But then I tried crumbling a couple of them up and dropping them on top of the charge before a relight. They add nothing. Nothing that I care about anyway. Now I just give them a fling. They remind me of the core in the center of a roll of paper; looks useful but really isn't.
Irish X in a meer rounded out a mellow Saturday p.m. I now have about twice as much hair on my chest; hope Mrs. Bruck doesn't mind :)
Puffing Gordon Pym (Dan Tobacco) in my old Kirsten. An English mixture, but quite different than others that I’ve tried. It’s a bit fluffy — I can’t get as much, by weight, into my pipe as I can with most other tobaccos. Very tasty though.

I have a smashing tool like the one seen in the 2nd video. But mine is better ‘cuz it’s round.

Started out a bit harsh but the further through the bowl it got better and better. Can definitely see it getting really tasty with some more age on it.
More junkyard dog in the same savi.
This blend isnt something I should be into, but I am. It is boring, straight forward, not interesting. But I am enjoying it for whatever reason.

Puffing Solani 660, Silver Flake, in my Tinsky brandy. I like zippy tobaccos earlier in the day and milder tobaccos as the day goes on. 660 is delicious and a bit spicy, so it’s become my “Early Morning Pipe”.
Sutliff great outdoors in the homemade nose warmer.

Well after trying all my collection of pipes from my grandpa I finally broke down and bought a shiny new pipe. First it was an epic orgy at CI in PA and @Horseshoe was a horrible influence on me, basically forced me to buy this pipe. Pics don't do it justice but it's a Stanwell Black Diamond 185. Had a few bowls already, now trying some WO Larsen special edition from 2013 that I picked up for cheap too.
I also forgot to take a pic but wanted to thank @bluenoser as the wooden tobacco holder and tamper made the trip and worked out well.

Ahh yes... and so it begins!
But even with the occasional pipe purchase you will still spend far less on pipes and tobacco than you would on cigars... unless you go nuts, of course. What did that pipe run you? Less than $100? Provided you don't lose or break it, it'll last the rest of your life. Now what's a box of decent cigars cost? And how long will those last?
Just to clarify, what I'm saying is not: 'see how much money you're saving?' What I'm saying is: 'feel free to buy more pipes!'

Those of you who've been on the pipe side of the forum know I lost my job about 5 months ago. It's been kind of a rough 5 months. A lot of husting to make ends meet, but we did it!
I accepted an offer today making more than my previous job! For those of a like mind, praise the Lord! It seems like it's been forever!
Smoked a 2010 Arturo Fuente Opus X in celebration of finally getting a new job, and later a bowl of Dubar.
For those who messaged me during this past months, thanks for the good words and support!
Once we get some good solid ground under our feet, it will be time to start back on building that cellar!
That is fantastic news Bryan. I know how stressful it is to be unemployed.
I was laid off suddenly in '09 and it took a while to recover. I know the feeling of both being there, and knowing that you're on the path back.
Cheers.

Having some Brown Bogie in a Savinelli Series III apple.
Second bowl tonight, trying something new I bought this past weekend. I sprung for a tin of RO Acadian gold.

Yes its a work in progress for sure, I am going to give the Acadian a go in a different pipe tonight or tomorrow. In hind sight trying my first bowl of it in that pipe was probably not my greatest idea, but I was so excited about both it didnt occur to me. I don't think I have ever had a blend like it or similar to it yet in my short piping career so I can't compare it to anything. It's not super over the top in any one area just a really good smooth enjoyable smoke even in a new pipe.
A couple of days ago I opened a 3 yo tin of F&T Cut Virginia Plug. Puffing that now in my old Kirsten Mariner. CVP is an excellent Virginia flake with a tasty topping. Like all F&T flakes that I know of, there are two neat rectangular stacks side by side.
