Jolly old st Nick in a stanwell bent bulldog
Popped a 2016 jar of Samuel Gawith Navy Flake.
Smells great! Still smoked a little wet.
Need to dry out the jar a bit.
Pulled the jar of "Stoniversity" our of storage to see how it's doing. Smoking nicely!
If you're not sure what I'm talking about, I made a thread about it a while ago.
Same old meer I've been using. It's a tank!

Burned a small bowl of SG Navy Flake last night. Such a nice blend.
Not sure of the vintage - I could look if I was at home - but there's some age on it sure.
Used a Barling Canadian I got from Neverbend
Good size bowl of SG Navy Flake last night since it's the weekend. Used a no-name Canadian I also got from Neverbend.
Had a tasty milk stout on the side
I just got out my jar of F&T Blackjack. For no good reason, except it was in the back of the cupboard, I haven’t smoked any of this stuff for quite awhile. A straight Virginia, it doesn’t need any drying out. No flavoring added, but it has a definite citrus character.
Smoking my Tinsky brandy today. First fill was The Mallard, now puffing Patriot Flake. Both of these Dan Tobacco offerings are superb Virginias, and similar. Both are grown in tropical regions and press fermented. Similar taste too, but different enough to justify stocking both.
Edit: The press fermentation process sounds similar to that used for perique.
I just opened a 2 yo tin of Wessex Classic Virginia, and put it into a Weck canning jar. I also have a tin of Escudo open. The Escudo is good, but the Wessex is the better vaper IMO. A red Virginia, it’s mellow and savory. Still using my Tinsky brandy to burn the weed.
Bowl of SG, Navy Flake in the Rossi lumberman that did its level best to kill me during break in.
Smokes quite nicely now :pipe:
McClelland 2015 Virginia/Perique Flake in my Savinelli Champagne bulldog.
And sipping Monkey Shoulder on the rocks.
Puffing “The Mallard” in my Tinsky billiard. Quite the remarkable tobacco.
Only baccy the wife claims to like the smell of. Had a bowl of 1-q in a MM cob while we were out shoveling the driveway.
Braving the cold 31 degree night with a bowl of Sam Gawith Cabbie's Mixture in an old Dr. Grabow Berwyck.
I just opened a 4 yo tin of F&T Special Brown Flake. Puffing that now in my Tinsky brandy. Other things being equal, the darker Virginias taste more mellow to me (and I like mellow). SBF is flavored with rum — subtle, but tasty. Very good tobacco, it is.
Single digits but above zero tonight. Managed to get the barn up to a decent enough temperature to enjoy a nice bowl of SG Navy Flake and a glass of red wine. First smoke last Wednesday I think. :pipe:
With all the firewood I had to burn, I bet the 'carbon footprint' of that smoke would make Bigfoot's workboots look like a pair of Robeez
Dunhill Navy Rolls in my Nording Canadian.
RO fudge cake in a Nording churchwarden
Managed to get in a nice bowl of McClelland 2015 last night. Such a nice blend. Hopefully somebody resurrects some of these McC blends in the future.
Puffing F&T Special Brown Flake in my old Kirsten. Very happy to say that it’s going down nicely today. I’ve been a bit under the weather for awhile. Nothing specific – just didn’t feel very good, and couldn’t find any tobacco that tasted good. Glad that’s over with.
Had about a half bowl's worth of Old Gowrie in a jar and about a half bowl of Orlik Golden Sliced in another.
So, I mixed them together and it's pretty darn enjoyable.
First smoke in a couple weeks.
A bowl of Marlin Flake, then a bowl of PS Luxury Bullseye Flake (found a little pouch of a bit more in a pipe bag).
Had a bowl of Sam Gawith Navy Flake in a Canadian last evening while spreading my carbon footprints far and wide
Puffing a 20%/80% mixture of Solani Tropical Mango Flake and Hamborger Veermaster in my old Kirsten. The Hamborger Veermaster is good by itself, but a little bit of TMF livens-up any staid tobacco.
Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky in a bent Seville. The pipe was a cheap flea market pickup but I love it.
A little G&H Dark Plug tonight in a Stanwell Rhodesian
Puffing Patriot Flake (Dan Tobacco) in my Luciano squat bulldog. Fine tobacco! A fun day ahead. Lunch will feature Thumann’s Braunschweiger on German baked pumpernickel, with Thumann’s “Düsseldorf” mustard, raw onion, and black pepper. Then off to the range with my neighbor. I’ll be shooting my 9mm SIG X5, which is a good deal more accurate than I am.
Trying some G&H Ennerdale Flake in a cob. Pretty perfumey but not as horrid as I feared. I do taste some cardboardy burley up front. We'll see once the bowl burns down how this smoke turns out.
Puffing The Mallard in my old Kirsten Mariner.
In one of the firearms forums that I haunt member sjtill, a retired cardiologist, asked me if I smoked meerschaum pipes. The thread was originally about J. R. R. Tolkien, author of Lord of the Rings. Tolkien was a pipe smoker, as was many of the characters in that book, so I think many of you will find that thread interesting.

Rattray's Hal o the Wynd in my Savinelli Champagne bulldog.
Having a bowl of this sublime McClelland Anniversary.....................from 2005.

Puffing F&T Special Brown Flake in my Tinsky brandy. This rum flavored dark brown tobacco is just savory. Good stuff, if you can get it.
Thinking of a bowl of G&H Dark Plug in the gourd might be nice. I have a serving cube cut for just that purpose.
Now to select a beverage...
Had a bowl of well aged C&D crooked lane in a Digby billiard yesterday. first bowl in months. very tasty.
SG Full Virginia Flake in my Savinelli Champagne bulldog.
My tin of F&T Special Brown Flake went empty — I hate it when that happens. So I opened a tin of Dunhill Navy Rolls. Puffing that now in my Tinsky billiard.
Got a bowl of G&H Dark Plug going in the gourd.
This is an intense blend.
Milkshake stout on the side.
Having some Drew Estate Meat Pie in an old Dr. Grabow Berwyck.
