Puffing Hamborger Veermaster in my Kirsten. And thinking about lunch!
I spent some time in Germany. Most ordinary German restaurants offer Hungarian Goulash (ironic). Good pot roast in a paprika sauce. The German restaurant where I lunch every Sunday does too. That’s what I’m puckered up for today.
Burned a bowl of Red Rap last evening. Well, not exactly 1 bowl... I had loaded up and was smoking one of my larger pipes for a nice long smoke while reading a book. I was not quite halfway thru it when along comes the resident kitten who took it upon herself to (for no apparent reason) bat the pipe out of my hand. Of course it landed upside-down on the floor and the tobacco went everywhere. Undaunted... well, semi-daunted, I loaded up my much smaller, Stanwell Rhodesian (which doesn't smoke Red Rap nearly as well btw) and smoked that instead.
^^^^^^
My number 1 rule of pipe smoking: grasp it firmly! You never know when you’ll brush the stem with your other hand. Love kittens though.
Up early this morning and smoked a bowl of Five Brothers in a Dunhill Bruyere billiard that I just got back in the mail from having some work done on it. Will soon be smoking a bowl of Margate in an E.A. Carey billiard. I wish you all a Merry Christmas!
Puffing F&T Cut Virginia Plug in my old Kirsten. Merry Christmas, all!

Puffing “The Mallard” in my Luciano squat bulldog. This stuff is wonderfully good! I received twenty 50g tins of it from SmokingPipes on Dec 24 — my Christmas present to me. :)
I'm just about to light a bowl of SG, Navy Flake in a Barling Canadian

G&H Bob's Chocolate Flake from 2012 in a Barling Canadian.
I stored this blend loosely covered for over a year to get rid of the Lakeland stench.
It's good now. Tastes a lot like Bob's Square Cut
Actually I don't half mind cats, but unforch I'm severiously allergic to them. Maybe we should get a Mexican Hairless :)
There was a Chinese Buffet in Allen Park that some other Ford engineers and I would frequent, but it was condemned after a surprise health inspection that discovered, among other unsavoriness, a cat carcass on the cutting board :puke:
Now then, back to the topic at hand... Had a couple bowls of C&D Big and Burley and one of a Milan latakia blend while not seeing deer in the Shenandoah mountains this morning and early p.m.
^^^ well meat is meat I guess... but I wouldn't eat there.
Had a pile of G&H mystery blend (brown flake vanilla I think) drying today but never got to smoking it. Maybe tomorrow.
Puffing Hamborger Veermaster in my dear old Kirsten. Mild? Yep. Tasty? Yep. Dry and combustible right out of the tin? Yep. Good tobacco!
Sampling some Strang (courtesy of Alan) in this old Kleenest Deluxe and first go using the new pipe lighter SWMBO bought me for Christmas. Absolutely amazing stuff.

It's a basic night for me.
I have no idea what I'm smoking and it's in a no name briar I got from a flea market.
The tobacco is from a friend at my local shop. When he's not really into a tobacco, it goes into a catch all container. There's no telling what all ended up in it.
He decided to learn how to press tobacco into cakes, so he experimented with the catch all jars.
I know it has Virginia, Perique and dark fired. I think I may get a hint of Oriental every now and then. No Latakia.
I'm actually enjoying it.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year
Some 2015 PS Luxury Bullseye Flake in an old KBB meerschaum bulldog.
Getting close to finishing of this jar. Three years has turned it into something nice!
Good to know! I've got a quart mason of that stuff that's been squirreled away for IDK how long now. Going to have to check the date on the jar. I've always liked the stuff, even fresh but somehow it fell out of my rotation... probably because there's no good way that I've found to fold and stuff the round disks. Can always rub it out tho.
Started my New Year with some SPS Black Swan from Tobias.
Any one heard from him or Pugsley lately?
Wishing everyone a Happy and fruitful New Year !
Finally got a chance to burn most of the bowl of G&H something or other.
Took a walk in the woods and made the most of it. The girls' feet got cold so had to cut the walk short.
My first fill of 2019 was Patriot Flake. Then I pried off the lid of a 3 yo tin of Escudo — puffing that now. Starting the year in style.
Happy New Year to all of you good folks!
Puffing Escudo in my Luciano squat bulldog.

This low-slung fellow corners very nicely. It’s my Italian sports pipe!
Still working through the last bit of 2015 PS Luxury Bullseye, still in the old KBB meerschaum.
A little Bobs Chocolate Flake in an old Grabow, Crown Duke with a blue spade marking.
Puffing Hamborger Veermaster in my Tinsky billiard. Very good, it is. Going forward, I think Dan Tobacco will be my principal source of Virginias. Hamborger Veermaster, Patriot Flake, and The Mallard. I have a ton of various STG Virginias in stock though.
Mixing things up today with some 2015 PS Lux Bullseye in the same old meer... 😁
Mango OG in a glass percolator
A cool day with a cold drizzle here in San Diego. A pipe of good tobacco and coffee brightens things up a bit. Also a small slice of Colin Street Bakery fruitcake that my brother and SIL send to me every Christmas. It got even better when I moistened it with a bit of good whiskey.
Puffing Wessex Classic Virginia in my Kirsten Mariner.
Puffing Patriot Flake (Dan Tobacco) in my Kirsten. It’s a superb tobacco, but especially delicious this morning.
