How was it? I really like that blend. If it didn't have enough taste you can always rub that one completely out too. I usually prepare that one as a broken flake or cube cut.
Some of these G&H blends you can't rub out. 1792 for example... that one just turns into splinters and sawdust. Can't imagine you'd like 1792 anyway tho. It's one of those 'polarizing' blends that it seems only 'seasoned' pipers enjoy.
Puffing “The Mallard” in my Tinsky billiard. Excellent tobacco, excellent pipe. Sipping dark roast coffee, and listening to “Sultans of Swing” (Dire Straits). Excellent tune. And it’s Friday!
I'm still in limbo where I'm not really tasting anything!
Following your advice and learning how to "sip" and retro. Plus I'm giving up the cigarettes as soon as I finish this pack. Maybe it will help my tastebuds and snot box better pick up some flavors & aroma.
Taking a break, while the power was out, from setting up the christmas tree. Some McClelland holiday spirit 2015 in this lil kleenest deluxe

Pretty little pipe, Blake!
Puffing Wessex Fragrant Virginia in my old Kirsten. Cider topped, and very tasty, I’m going to buy more of it.
I like my Braunschweiger cut 3/8” thick. And I’ve learned that the way to get 3/8” slices is to ask for 1/2” slices. Yesterday, I did just that, but the new girl at the deli counter actually cut them 1/2” thick, bless her heart. So I had nice meaty sandwiches for lunch today (on German-baked pumpernickel). Very good, though! Plus lots of raw onion, mustard, and freshly ground pepper.
Burning a flake of Peter Stokkebye Navy in a Canadian. This is a nice Va once it gets some age on it. IMO it's a bit sharp fresh. This batch is approaching a year old and mellowing nicely.
Grabbed a jar from the back of the shelf and it contained.... Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake, which is basically a navy flake. It has a few years on it and is quite tasty and mellow. Burning it in my Altinok meer.

Puffing Solani 656, Aged Burley Flake in my old Kirsten. It’s the only Burley that I like, but I like it a lot. A unique flavor, and never tart. From Tobacco Reviews:
“A skillful mixture of three aged burleys - dark brown burley from Kentucky, light burley from Brazil, and white burley from Malawi - Southeast Africa. A very natural blend with absolutely no additives or flavors - a true burley blend.
Notes: Blender R.L. Will developed a unique toasting process to enhance the natural sweetness of this blend. No sugar has been added.”
Went on a hike in the mountains today; feel like a million bucks! Smoking a bowl of D&R Cockstrong in a Dunhill Tanshell.

Another bowl of PS Navy Flake in a Canadian. That last one was so good I had to have another
Still working through a jar of 2015 PS Luxury Bullseye. It's quite tasty now!
I also snuck in a bowl of MacBaren HH Pure Virginia last night.

Puffing Aged Burley Flake in my Kirsten. In TobaccoReviews, JimInks wonders if it might have some chocolate flavoring. I’ve had the same thought.
Solani 639, Tropical Mango Flake, is too intensely aromatic for me to enjoy straight. But a small portion of it really brightens-up a staid tobacco. Right now I have it brightening-up Dunhill Navy Rolls.

Being bad and smoking Nightcap in a Chadwick Cutty.
Don't nobody snitch on me.
Re-visiting one of my absolute favorites.
Smoking it in a Seville. Never heard of the pipe but I liked the look and it was $8 at an antique shop.
It cleaned up nicely and smokes great.

One of my favorite things to do on days off is visit antique shops looking for pipes.
This pre-Republic Peterson Shamrock is my best find yet at one. It cost a whopping $20. It was my first briar pipe purchase.

Troost Aromatic Cavendish from 1983 in a churchwarden
Puffing Patriot Flake (Dan Tobacco), in my stout little Caminetto pot. Grown in a tropical climate, and press fermented, PF is a very flavorsome Virginia.
This morning I had a bowl of Margate in a Sunrise apple. I was going through some of my tins and discovered that the tin of Margate had lost its seal, so now I'm smoking it. Put the rest in a Ball jar with a terracotta humidification stone.
Just fired up Captain Black Copper in a Willard rusticated billiard.
I have an ounce of Margate,,That sounds like a good follow up Tab,Thanks.
While strolling in the neighborhood today, I had a lovely bowl of Stokkebye bullseye flake with some Luxury Flake on top. Not that I know anything about layering, I just had a tiny bit of the bullseye left, so I filled the rest of the bowl with Luxury :)
That would be a leaf-shaped Hydrostone? I soak them in distilled water so they don’t load up with minerals.

Puffing Wessex Classic Virginia in my Kirsten Mariner. Red Virginia with some Perique — savory.
We’ve had a LOT of rain over the past couple of weeks here in San Diego. And we really needed it. That’s the good news. The bad news is that it revealed that the roof over my kitchen has a leak. My HOA covered it with a sheet of plastic for a temporary fix — expecting a permanent fix soon.
In my (red)neck of the woods, that's a permanent repair... but you have to make sure the 'sheet of plastic' is a blue poly tarp with the edges flapping in the wind.https://i165.photobucket.com/albums/...th23_4_150.gif
>That's got to be uncomfortable, having a leak in the roof over your kitchen.<
I'm about to load up a Captain Black (Orlik) billiard with a bowl of Peter Stokkebye 41 Cube Cut.

I’m not a big fan of aromatic tobaccos, but I’ve had a jar of Solani 131, Red Label, on hand for a couple of months, and have a fill of it from time to time, as I’m doing now. It’s pretty good — the flavoring isn’t too intense, and the tobacco is decent. SmokingPipes says:
“For Solani's Red Label, a touch of Single malt Scotch has been added to selected bright and red Virginias from the "Old Belt", ripe Burleys and mellow, sweet black Cavendish for a "Tropical Aroma--delicious. Wild Cut.”

After a nice lunch that featured Braunschweiger sandwiches on German-baked pumpernickel, I’m puffing Dunhill Navy Rolls in my Kirsten. Making me sleepy — I need a nap!
Found a jar of MM Missouri Pride in the cellar I forgot about. Didn't care much for it when I bought it 3 years ago but tasting damned good tonight. In this "plan to refinish one day" pipe. Don't know much about it. Was gifted to me with a bunch of other "refinish someday pipes". Says Churchill 1499 meerschaum on it, meerschaum lines with a stem stolen from a Chinese cob. Ugly thing but smokes great.
