Was straightening up a few things and found a baggie in my sample jar of some sort of rubbed out flake. The flavor leads me to believe this was some LTF, smoked in a pretty worn in cob.
Just lit up a bowl of C&D Pirate Kake in a Sunrise apple.

Had some Autumn Evening and some McConnel Oriental earlier today.
Now I'm about halfway through a bowl of McClelland 2015 VA/Perique Flake in a London made Ben Wade apple.
Still no idea what I am doing but I am having fun trying! Thanks to @Hardheaded for this Lane 1-Q. Still learning how long to dry it out first but I'm getting there.

Puffing “The Mallard” (Dan Tobacco) in my Tinsky brandy (the one with a “broad shouldered bottom”). TM is a mild ready-rubbed Virginia with tons of flavor.
I just opened a 2yo tin of Solani 656, Aged Burley Flake. I filled my Tinsky, and put the rest in a jar. I don’t smoke a lot of ABF, but sometimes it just hits the spot. ABF is one of two STG tobaccos that I’ll keep buying despite the change to the space-hogging round tins. The other is F&T Special Brown Flake.
I'm smoking a bowl of D&R Two Timer in a Dr. Grabow billiard.

Puffing “The Mallard” (Dan Tobacco) in my Caminetto red pot with silver spigot mount. It’s time for some silver polish! I use Hagerty 10120. It’s not a magic bullet, but it’s as good as any, and better than some. If I get a little on the shank it mostly rubs off easily. Except if some gets into the stamping near the bottom end of the shank, so I protect that with a pice of Scotch Tape.

Burned a bowl of G&H Whiskey Twist in the gourd. Also had some braunschweiger on rye with roquefort, onions and tomato... washed all that down with cabernet sauvignon
^^^^^^
Man, that sounds good! I keep baked-in-Germany Westphalian pumpernickel on hand. Pumpernickel, Braunschweiger, and raw onion make an awesome sandwich! Mustard & black pepper too, of course.
At my near-by grocery, I once asked for some sliced Braunschweiger. “We only have liverwurst,” the girl said. I pointed out a large sausage marked “Braunschweiger“ in the display case. “Well, we call it liverwurst,” she said. Whatever. :).
Starting off at 4:00 am with a bowl of Davidoff Royalty in a Bari billiard. I'm looking forward to a four-day weekend!
Oh there was mustard... believe that. The bread was a vollkornbrot rye. Forgot about the fresh ground black pepper this time around. A bit of Tabasco would have also been good... and probably horseradish too :) There was a limit however, on just how much stuff I was willing to carry outside to the workshop so I could enjoy it with a smoke. I don't want my house smelling like tobacco smoke.

Puffing Dunhill Flake in my old Kirsten. I’ve smoked DF longer than any other tobacco in my cellar.
Well, except for half a pouch of Half and Half that’s been open for two years in a cupboard drawer. It’s still pliable, thanks to the miracle of ethylene glycol. I’ve smoked H&H since I was a college student on a tight budget. Probably cost about 39¢ a pouch in those days.

Having some Lane BCA in a Kaywoodie Rustica. Need to work on dolling up the stem a bit.

All of them really! But so far the Lane 1-q is the best. They were out of it in bulk at dewey ave today.
Even with a good trying time however I find that at some point I have to dump the ash on top because it goes out and I can relight anymore, the light doesnt reach anymore without the ash gone. Maybe I am not toasting the top good enough and getting a good solid light?
Nightcap in the Dr. Plumb. I should mention I'm smoking like a chimney because one this is fun and two my wife is at a work conference all week and out of town.

Excellent sandwich!
Reminds me, I was at a Meijer store in northern MI a while back with my sister who, unlike me, did not move to VA. I was looking for scrapple in the breakfast meat cooler & realized it was futile as I was in MI, not the midatlantic region. She says, "What's scrapple?"
"It's like a meatloaf of ground liver, corn meal, and pork 'byproducts'."
She turned a bit pale and said, "I would never eat that!"

& for the record, I'm smoking some homemade flake - VA/latakia with a light peach flavor. Good stuff but I'm down to my last bowl and I'm out of peach flavoring :(
Puffing “The Mallard” (Dan Tobacco) in my newish Tinsky billiard. TM is a VERY tasty straight Virginia.
“The Mallard is a smooth Ready Rubbed Flake based on the extraordinarily rich and full-bodied sweet Zambian Virginia that was carefully fermented and matured under pressure. There was no need to add any flavorings to enhance its aroma, and it has found great reception among committed friends of pure natural tobacco and among lovers of flavored pipe mixtures as well. You can look forward to a wonderfully gentle smoke with a perfectly rich and sweet Virginia taste.”
This is the third day that I’ve smoked this pipe. The Lakeland taste is nearly gone — I probably wouldn’t notice it at all if I wasn’t looking for it.
Funny! And a real possibility.
Another possibility: The first day I smoked this pipe I found its draw a bit tight. And if a crumb of tobacco got into the bit, the draw got really tight, and it was hard to clear with a pipe cleaner. I thought I was going to have to ream out the bit with a 1.5mm round needle file. But when I sat down to do that I discovered some detritus in the bit, close to its near end. I was able to push that out with a straightened paper clip, after which the draw was free and easy. Maybe the original owner hadn’t discovered that detritus, so returned the pipe. His loss, my gain!
I've been smoking some C&D Haunted Bookshop in a Dunhill billiard.

Smoked an early morning bowl of C&D Haunted Bookshop in a Dr. Grabow billiard.
Now smoking a 50/50 mixture of Haunted Bookshop and Tambolaka in a Dunhill Tanshell billiard.
Puffing 4 yo Dunhill Flake in my Kirsten — darned good tobacco. Sipping dark roast coffee. And thinking about lunch. Yesterday I went to the deli counter to buy some Braunschweiger, but they didn’t have any, so I had them slice some Genoa salami instead. I’ll have that on toasted pumpernickel with mustard, black pepper and onion. Not enough room in the sandwich for the amount of onion that I like, so I’ll just put pieces of onion directly into my mouth with each bite of sandwich.
