Puffing my blend of 75% Solani 656, Aged Burley Flake and 25% F&T Blackjack. Smoked separately, the ABF is a bit leaden, and the Blackjack is too zippy for me. But this blend is just tasty — an excellent invention.
Puffing Solani 779, English Luxury Mixture. Virginia, Syrian Latakia, and Oriental. It’s been growing on me lately. Smooth and tasty.
Edit: I’m starting to feel like Jim Inks…
I'd be interested to see what you think of Rattray's Red Raparee. It's more of a Scottish blend IMO; a mild English with a touch of 'unflavored' black cavendish to boost the sweetness a bit. 'Unflavored' but I pick up a light touch of vanilla from time to time. It's really a nice blend.
Puffing Hamborger Veermaster in my new Luciano stout bulldog. Just the third day that I’ve smoked this pipe, but it’s going great.
H. V. Has been “Currently out of stock” forever at SmokingPipes. Fortunately, I have enough on hand to see me through the drought.
Been more than a few years since this old Medico has had a bowl of Amphora brown run through it. Found my grandfather's old pipe when we were home a couple weeks ago. Figured tonight is as good a night as any to load a bowl of his favorite tobacco and enjoy. Solitude on the deck but smoking it in good company.

Enjoying a relatively cool evening with a glass of sweet iced tea and a bowl of Peterson's Irish Flake in my London made Ben Wade apple.
Had a bowl of SG Navy Flake in a Rattrays cherrywood over the course of about 6 hours while working on this and that. That's one of the nice things about a sitter. Finished up the last little bit with a glass of Rochester Mills Milkshake Stout.
Just finished a bowl of Dunhill Flake in
a Chadwick cutty
I opened a 3 yo tin of Dunhill Flake early this morning. It’s been awhile since I smoked this stuff — had forgotten just how good it is. No fancy topping, just plain tobacco of the finest. Now on my third fill. And sipping a Nespresso “Ristretto” espresso. The Italians shoot it, but I sip it.

McClelland 2015 Virginia/Perique flake in my sandblast Savinelli Bing's Favorite.

I’m not an aromatic guy at all. But I’ve been impressed with the quality of Solani tobaccos, and the blending skill of Herr Will. So a year or two ago I bought a tin of Solani 639, Tropical Mango Flake. Black Cavendish, Virginia, and Burley.
This stuff turned out to be INTENSELY aromatic. Too much for me — after smoking half a bowl I dumped my pipe and threw the tin away. But later, I began to regret my haste when it occurred to me that a blend of straight Virginia and the TMF might be interesting.
So recently I bought another tin of TMF. I’m now puffing a mixture of 76% Dunhill Flake, 24% TMF. And it’s pretty good — still strongly aromatic, I’ll reduce the TMF component to 20% next time. This blend is a major league change up for me. I put the rest of the TMF into a jar, as I won’t be smoking it at any great rate.
PS Luxury Bullseye Flake in my unfinished Savinelli Series III.
I don’t smoke a lot of Solani ABF, but sometimes I get hungry for it. That just happened, so I got out my jar. It’s going down just right.
Had some PS Proper English earlier.
Now I've just lit a bowl of Sam Gawith Navy Flake in my Rogers Town and Country.

Smoked about half a bowl of Newminster 403 (?) lumpy round slices in a small Savinelli billiard
I gouged out some Hamborger Veermaster — puffing that now in my Luciano stout bulldog. A mild and tasty Virginia. Occasionally I open a tin of HV where it’s possible to extract (with some difficulty) individual flakes. But even then I use the gouging-out technique, which works perfectly well.
Having some Carter Hall in a cheap no-name briar. Very nice, haven't had this in a while.
No pics, but none needed for my crude gouging-out technique. I just force my thumbnail into the plug of tobacco to get about the right amount out. If my scale tells me I didn't get quite enough, I fish some more bits out of the tin to make the right weight. I say "plug", but it's actually a stack of welded-together flakes.
Having a cobful of Stokkebye 4th Generation 1931 VA flake. Quite nice. Why smoke a pipe? For me the answer is VA flakes and English blends :)
On my lunch break with a bowl of MacBaren Virginia No. 1.
Puffing Solani Aged Burley Flake in my silver spigot Caminetto pot:
Caminetto Smooth Red Pot with Silver Spigot | Buy Caminetto Tobacco Pipes at Smokingpipes
Although short, it’s a substantial little pipe at 1.8 oz. When I bought it, I thought it would be a near-perfect pipe for me because it has so many of the characteristics that I like:
* Straight
* Shallow, broad tobacco chamber
* Thick bowl walls that don’t get too hot (I’m a holder)
* Looks good (in my eyes)
* It’s a pot – my second favorite pipe shape, after bulldogs
* Acrylic bit (easy maintenance, and hardness doesn’t bother me)
And it’s a sitter, to boot. I had some issues with this pipe, and put it away for awhile, but it’s going good now.
@Pipe Smoker I got to browsing around that website and came across this beauty :)

Showed it to Mrs. Bruck who commented, that looks like a piece of poop! My sediments exactly.
And for the record, I'm having some C&D Burley Flake #1 (not #2) in a cheap no-name briar, bent square dublin in shape.
Smoked a bit of Bob's square cut.. Must be a Gawith Hoggarth blend as I recall. Don't really care for it but right now I'm battling a summer cold so the smoke was just therapeutic, trying to ease the congestion a bit. Couldn't tast much of anything anyway right now.
"Off" today.
Gonna hit the mornimg with some OJK and try to buzz it early....wife has surgery, kid has PT, Dad needs help moving a curio cabinet, and our family mobile blew up yesterday so I have to limp it in to the dealer and do everything with 1 small vehicle until they approve a loaner car....
Gonna be a long couple days. Smoke for me boys.

I was in the mood for a really mild, but tasty, tobacco. Solani 763, White and Black hits that spot perfectly.
Took the day off today to take care of Mrs. Bruck who's suffering from the flu that's been going around.
And in the meantime, having some homemade flake - peach/latakia blend in a cheap briar. Is good :)
Puffing Hamborger Veermaster with just a touch of Solani 639, Tropical Mango Flake. The 639 is such an intense aromatic that I can’t bear it straight. But used as a condiment in a straight Virginia, it makes for an interesting and tasty smoke.
Its 5 somewhere...

Mrs. Bruck is much better today :)
Having a cobful of some rope I twisted about 4 years ago. Good as ever and still surprisingly strong in the vitamin N department.
