Last night at the Knoxville Pipe Club meeting, I had a bowl of Iwan Ries IRC Slices and two bowls of GLP Stonehenge Flake.
Puffing Wessex Classic Virginia (my second fill of it). This vaper is pretty durned good. Savory.
I haven't smoked a decent Va-Per in quite a while. IDK why. I had a bowl of PS Lux Navy Flake a while back but it was still very young. I just don't see the magic in LNF unless it's been squirreled away for a few years. I may have to bust out a tin of H&H Frenchy's Sunzabiches or AJ's Va-Per. Those two always scratch the Va-Per itch for me and I have plenty of each. I also have a stash of G&H Louisiana Flake, SG St. James Flake, and PS Bullseye Flake, and even some C&D Night Train. ...so I have a few to choose from. :D :D Oh, and let's not forget H&H Anni Kake! I have that too. So many Va-Pers... so little time... :pipe:
Working on a chaw of G&H SRT right now. It's pipe tobacco, so that counts as a 'smoke' right?
On my last order from SmokingPipes, I got a 50g tin of Hamborger Veermaster to come along for the free ride. I've known of this Virginia for years, but hadn't tried it until now. The round tin is a bit smaller in diameter than most, and a bit taller. Inside, there's a single disorderly pile of irregular flakes (which tend to adhere to each other).
It's untopped, mild, and quite tasty, but I have other Virginias that fit that general description. HV does have a different flavor than any of them though. I'll have to have a few more fills before I decide whether or not to order more.
Headache this morning...need to mow the damn lawn...
Thinking a deep bowl of old joe krantz with my coffee may be the ticket to getting going this morning

AJ's Vaper is a wonderful tobacco. I love it.
If you haven't tried Virginia Spice, give it a try as well. Really good.
I have to remember to try some Frenchy's Sunzabitches. I've meant to order it but when ordering time comes, it slips my mind.
But right now, I'm on the balcony having a lunch time smoke. Russ Oulette's Fire Storm in a Ben Wade apple.
The Pirate Kake is most excellent! P&C gave me a half ounce plug of it once with one of my orders - liked it so much I turned around and ordered a 1# slab of it. I gave a sample of it to a local buddy who was just getting into pipe smoking last year, then he turned around and ordered a pound. Good stuff - I'd put it right up there with Penzance.
Good Morning , after a few rough days,I'm finally getting in a good smoke.
Starting with Captain Black original in my black rusticated Friar.
Next up will be some "Light" reading (Book on CD) along with an
A.J.Fernandez Last Call Geniales Natural and coffee.
Puffing Hamborger Veermaster again. This is a mild and very tasty Virginia.
Just finished a bowl of Peterson's Sunset breeze in my no-name briar.
Solani 656 in my Dunhill Canted Dublin
Puffing Solani 779, English Luxury Mixture. This is DARNED fine tobacco!
Took the "Dogs" for a walk today,OGS in both the Medico Guardsman and the Yello-Bole
Nova.Interesting that the same tobacco in pipes that are basically the same will have
such a different flavor. The Yello-Bole delivered more of the spicey peppery taste than
the Medico which is a briar.
All this talk about Pirate Kake gave me a hankering for some :)
Currently scratching said itch.
In a Latakia mood today, so I'm having my 2nd bowl of Robert McConnell Oriental in a Savinelli Punto Oro Mr. G.
ending the day with my Bastard Blend in a MM/CG Cob
Indulging in mild and tasty Hamborger Veermaster. The tin lettering is in the Old German style, so the "V" looks like a "B" to American eyes. I've seen this tobacco called Hamburger Beermaster. :)
I've gotten some aged HV in a sampler before. I must say I fail to find the magic, notwithstanding the many pipers who love this stuff. Like all Dan tobaccos, it's rather precious price-wise. For the money, I find I far prefer FVF, the HV being too mild for my tastes... and by mild I mean 'light in flavor'. I don't smoke for nicotine.
Just my 2 bits FYI
Enjoyed a bowl of Peterson's Sunset Breeze in my Medico Guardsman bulldog.
First (and maybe only, we'll see) bowl of the evening will be Sam Gawith St. James Flake in my Ben Wade Freehand.
Taking time for a bowl of Solani 656 in my Tally-Ho
Puffing Solani 763, White & Black. I'm thinking that this may be the mellowest tobacco I've ever smoked. Yet very tasty, with rich flavor.
That may indeed be true. When I popped the tin and had my first fill, I was disappointed by Hamborger Veermaster. Didn't seem to have much flavor, and I didn't like what little flavor there was. After several weeks I tried one more fill to decide whether or not to toss the tin. And, by golly, it was excellent.
Relaxing with Captain Black Original in a Bruce Peters apple pot
Got my tin of Orlik, Dark Strong Kentucky in hand. Now to scrounge up a pipe and a beer to go with it.
Had a bowl of my English Shelf Plug while roasting some coffee.
Starting off light tonight
Captain Black original in a figural Meer
Pulled my Klean-Draft straight billiard out tonight and took it for a double
run.First with Chatham Manor, and followed with PS Black Coffee.
Morning Every body !
Starting the day with CB original in my Yello-Bole Nova Bulldog.
To be followed with SPS Sunrise in my DG Savoy.
Cheers !:trooper:
Puffing Hamborger Veermaster. Mild and tasty.
GL Pease Key Largo in a Grabow pot
Just finished up a bowl of Full VA Flake in a straight Savinelli billiard.
I think next up is McClelland 40th Anniversary in a Savinelli Champagne bulldog.
Well I've loaded my first four pipes for the day.EGR in my 1950's Monterrey,
Frenchy's Sumbitches in my Friar with the nickle band,Old Companion in my
Brigham Brandy Pot, and Fieldmaster in my un-marked system pipe.Y'all wish
me luck cause my wife might kick me outside with this line up. :)
Putting 3 yo F&T Vintage. I've smoked this stuff longer than any other tobacco in my rotation, except DF.
A music critic, when asked which of Brahms' symphonies was his favorite, replied, "the one I heard last."
Which might explain why I'm thinking that F&T Blackjack is my favorite untopped Virginia. Puffing it now...
Snuck in a cob ful of Cult BRM
I smoked several bowls today.
Had a bowl each of Dunhill Elizabethan, Rattray's Hal o the Wynd, Peterson Irish Flake, and I believe 2 bowls of McClelland 40th Anniversary.
