Having some HH Old Dark Fired in a Dr. Grabow Savoy.
Had a mixture of G&H Rum Flake and Glengarry Flake in a Rattray's cherrywood last evening. Probably shouldn't have mixed them; just tasted like muted Rum Flake to me. I like each of them as separate blends though.
Up early today. A Solani kind of day for me so far:
#633, Virginia with Perique.
#763, White & Black.
#779, English Luxury Mixture.
Next up: F&T Blackjack. So many fine tobaccos, so little time...
Drying out a bowl's worth (small bowl that is) of G&H, Sweet Rum Twist for some smokage in a little Savinelli billiard.
SRT has got to be their best twist. Tasty and versitile; makes as good a chew as it does a smoke. Prolly would make a good snuff too if you pulverized it but I'm not into that - don't plan to be either.
I have a jar of G&H Dark Flake Unscented around here somewhere... I'm going to have to dig that up...
Just dropping in the day u haven't been smoking much recently (too hot, and I've been home brewing), but I miss you guys!
I'll be back soon!
Had a lunchtime smoke of G&H Dark Birds Eye in an old Dunhill billiard. Gotta rush back to work! I'm on a 4-day work week, so this is like Friday to me.
Puffing F&T Blackjack. Just untopped, ready-rubbed Virginia, but very tasty. Takes fire easily too, even right out of a new tin.
Frog Morton Cellar in my Doctor Grabow Savoy
Got up at 3:30 this morning, couldn't sleep anymore. I've been smoking lots of G&H Ennerdale in a Dunhill Shell billiard this morning. It's been jarred for just 3 months and already the perfume scent is mostly gone. Going to get my oil changed and tires rotated in about 5 minutes.

Cornell & Diehl Bijou in an Irish Second
I usually rotate tobaccos over the course of the day, but Solani 656, Aged Burley Flake, is going so well that I'm sticking with it. Now puffing my third fill. I don't know how much age Solani puts on it, but I've put 1+ years on top of that.
A vanilla topped mystery blend in a no-name Briar with a Tylenol chaser.
Have been smoking many bowls over the last 36 hours in various pipes.
- St. Bruno
- Chatham Manor
- PS Luxury Navy flake
Having some GL Pease Quiet Nights in a standing Savinelli billiard.
Puffing a 50-50 mixture of Solani ABF and F&T Blackjack. Per my usual practice, I mixed the tobaccos, rather than layering. By George! It's good! Pretty, too, with the dark bits of ABF and the lighter Blackjack.
Some time ago I tried a 50-50 mixture of ABF and DF, with a disappointing result. Might have to try that again.
Been smoking St. Bruno flake and C&D Red Virginia Ribbon is this Dunhill billiard.

I often mix and match tobaccos. Mostly it's because I have a bit left over from something I left out to dry but didn't all fit in the bowl. So I just mix that with whatever sounded good to smoke next. Sometimes it's 'meh' and sometimes it's really good... and sometimes it's good or bad just because of the way the blend hits me on a given day. I know this because I've duplicated a mix that I thought was fantastic one day only to find that a couple days later it hit me as OK at best. I do know I generally don't like virginias mixed with burley but once in a while even that combo surprises me.
I might go for something mild later on. Haven't been feeling 100% lately and tobacco hasn't sounded good at all. We'll see I guess...
Having some McClelland 40th Anniversary in a Savinelli Champagne bulldog.
Having my first bowl of the evening.
Dunhill Navy Rolls in a series III Savinelli bent apple.
I'm going to finish the day and the month with Frog Morton Cellar in my DG Savoy.
Last night I smoked Solani Aged Burley Flake in a Sunrise billiard. This morning I am having another bowl of it in a Comoy's Guildhall billiard. I finally found some G&H Dark Plug on the Mars Cigar website and bought a 500 g box. I've been looking for some for years!
Earlier this evening I smoked a bowl of G&H Black Irish X in an Albert John billiard. Gotta remember to not do that when I'm sitting in the sun and it's 80 degrees out.
And for the record, I ribbon cut and mixed some "Dark Fire" (dark fire-cured VA) from KY and pseudo perique (bcs it's also from KY) a couple years ago and put it in a jar.
It wasn't that great to begin with, but I'm burning some now and it's quite nice.
Puffing Solani 779, English Luxury Mixture. I'm really liking this stuff -- mellow, and VERY tasty.
For the past two or three months I've been smoking my venerable aluminum stem Kirsten Mariner exclusively. It's the least expensive pipe I own -- and the sweetest smoking pipe I own. Easy to clean to like-new condition, too. It came with a vulcanite bit, but I replaced that with an acrylic bit, for easier maintenance.
Just finished a small bowl of G&H Black Irish X in a Dr. Grabow Royal Duke. A most satisfying smoke after a day of work! Today, in the mail, I got a ton of pipe tobacco coupons from Scandinavian Tobacco Group: SWR, SWRA, Half & Half, Captain Black, and others. I recommend you get on their mailing list so that you will receive these coupons in the mail - they are almost like getting a free pouch with each coupon. Today I went to the local Discount Tobacco store and got a pouch of SWR, SWRA, Half & Half, and Captain Black Original all for $4.19 total with tax included.
I took the "Dogs" for a walk today, two bowls in each.
Two bowls of Orlike flakes
one of Peterson's Sunset Breeze
and one of FM Cellar
Just opened tin of Dunhill Flake with good age on it. When STG recently changed the packaging from rectangular 50g to less-compact round 50g, I was annoyed, and vowed to buy no more of it. But this DF is tasting so good...
Well, a decision isn't imminent -- it'll be several years before my stock of DF is exhausted.
This evening I am having a bowl of Dunhill Mixture BB1938 in my extra large Savinelli 606.:pipe: Last year I purchased several tins of this tobacco at the end of the summer sale at "Pipes and Cigars" and I especially do enjoy this tobacco. I can only say that I am totally relaxed enjoying this smoke with a small glass of brandy while listening to Antonio Carlos Jobim.:leprechaun:
Starting off with a small bowl of G&H Dark Plug in Dr. Grabow Royal Duke straight billiard.
Puffing F&T Blackjack. If Dunhill Flake goes away, this might be my new favorite straight untopped Virginia. They're quite different though -- the Blackjack is lighter and more citrusy. If DF is butterscotch pie, Blackjack is lemon pie. Well, maybe pie analogies don't work all that well with tobacco...
Yard work all day, a couple truckloads of branches to the landfill, and now having a Missouri Meer charged with a mix of fire-cured VA and perique.
Puffing Solani 779, English Luxury Mixture. It is indeed luxurious.
Took a tramp out in the woods today :)
And while there, burned a few bowls of Nat Sherman English.
Having a little bowl of G&H Dark Plug in a Dr. Grabow Royal Duke straight billiard. Pondering the start of another work week with a Mountain Dew.
