I loved the stuff but told myself "NO" to a box purchase since I'm on a budget.... Wish I had something to trade ya for some to lighten your, ahem, "investment" in said blend ;)

Haha! Yes, my 'investment' indeed :D
I haven't given up on it quite yet. Next time I try it, I'll rub it out to a ribbon and leave it more moist. Maybe that will perk it up. Ought to at least carry the Va sweetness (if there is any to be carried) a little better.
my favorite way to smoke it was to musketball it in a country gent, with enough moisture to musketball without it breaking all apart. Since it's mostly bright, I didn't get any kind of deep, earthy fruitiness I expect from the reds and etc. sugary, a bit acidic, and a touch cigarette like when not sipped.
If you do give up, I've got some mcclelland stuff that I have given up on if you like McC =P
Not feeling adventurous nor open minded tonight. I just want something good so it's going to be St James Flake in a Barling 5574 (pipe courtesy of Neverbend... wherever he is)
McClelland Frog Morton with some meat pizza and two points of Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout.
This is a blissful evening.
This evening I am having a bowl of Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky in my extra large Savinelli 606.:piper: I got several tins of this tobacco that was on backorder and this is my second bowl. I really enjoyed my first bowl and this second is even better.:yes!: After smoking my first bowl of "Strong Kentucky" my wife surprised me telling me how good it smelled; I asked her "are you sure" and she replied absolutely. I will say no more. I am topping off this smoke with an ice cold mug of "Guinness Draught" and life is good!:beerchug:
Last night I light up some Fire Storm. Great blend. Sweet and spicy. First pipe I had in months.
Puffing Dunhill Flake. This stuff is so tasty -- nothing fancy, just straight-ahead excellent tobacco.
McClellands Holiday Spirit 2013 out in the snow on an unscheduled day off! Yum

Thank's. Its a Stanwell HCA
Just had another bowl of McClellands Holiday Spirit in my Stanwell Hans Christian Andersen Churchwarden Smooth Briar Pipe.
Barking Dog match in a Peterson 314
Puffing Fribourg & Treyer Cut Virginia Plug.
And woohoo! SmokingPipes just got more CVP in. I ordered 25 tins to add to my stash. It'll soon be "Currently out of stock" again. A 25-tin order gets a 10% discount and free shipping.
Reiner 71 Long Golden Flake in a Barling TVF. (guess where this pipe came from)
Another highly rated blend that I just don't care for. I don't like burley adulterating my VaPers. It kills the taste.
Tried this blend a few years back and didn't like it. Still don't like it today. Good thing I've only got a small sample; can't wait to get rid of it and put something good in this mason jar. IMO Stokkebye LNF with a couple years on it is 100x better than this and MUCH cheaper as well.
-Exception-
One VaPer with burley that I do enjoy from time to time is C&D Night Train... better, but I wouldn't make a habit of that one either.
Oriental Blend in a MM cob, Getting ready for some Autumn weather. Tomorrow they tell me
it will get down to 5 degrees before the wind chill. Think I'll go skinny dipping, who's with me ?!!:fish2:

Captain Black Gold in a Bruce Peters pot, I think I can still feel my toes so I'm gonna get some
Proper English out with my Brigham brandy pot and a shot of scotch to get my blood going.
Had some Drew Estate Meat Pie in a Savinelli Punto Oro Mr G.
Then later some Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture in a Savinelli Bing's Favorite.
Peterson Irish Flake in a Grabow Royal (?) Duke.
Interesting flake this is. I get many of the same nuances I pick up in G&H Black Irish X. Amazing I know, right? Since they're both 'irish' whatever that means. This flake is certainly way more spicy than BIX but has a similar oily, earthy character and underlying flavor. I'm guessing there's a lot of DFK in this... heading over to TR to find out.
A bowl of C&D Virginia Gentleman in a 3/4 bent Tally Ho.
Back to a coffee chaser but thinking real hard about another scotch, winds blowing and it sounds cold.
Burning an Opus X at the lounge today and had some photo ops to share...

I must be a dumbsh*t, What's a Rum Chata ?
FWIW, Coffee doesn't keep me up, I've taken a cup to bed with me for over 30 yrs
so I had a drink handy if I woke up early. On the other hand the scotch does more to warm
my old bones. Tried rum but it just didn't quite do it.
Having my first bowl of this homemade Navy flake that @Bruck made. It smokes great; very full bodied smoke that satisfies! Smoking it in my medium-sized Hendon billiard.

Rum Chata is a sweet cream liquor similar to Bailey's Irish Cream. I don't care for Bailey's but a little Rum Chata is tasty.
I just drank a mug of hot green tea with a cat sleeping on my lap. I'm all warm and toasty and it's only 64 in the house. Maybe you need a cat. :p
Alternating fills of Escudo and Fribourg & Treyer Cut Virginia Plug. I'm smoking my Dunhill 2110 (group 2 Liverpool) today. This one:
Dunhill Bruyere (2110) (2010) | Buy Dunhill Tobacco Pipes at Smokingpipes
I bought it several years ago when SmokingPipes offered a discount on Dunhill pipes. The Liverpool is basically a billiard with a longer shank and shorter bit -- more briar, and less vulcanite to keep polished. It has much better grain than most Dunhills with the Bruyere finish. It's a great little flake pipe!
What is that black pipe with the brown rim toward the right of the pic? I'm usually not into bents but that one looks like a decent pipe and it's not bent enough (imo) to be rejected.
I only ask because the generous part of me would like to buy the pipe-smoking part of me a new pipe for Christmas. I'm pretty cool like that. And the humble part of me is just awesome.
:p
Haven't checked in for a while. Sorry, was recovering from the shock of finding out that the family voted Christmas dinner would be at my house this year and I would be doing the cooking. I was the only one to vote no, so I'll be cooking for some 30 odd people, and I do mean odd. The first thing I did was order an assortment of wines for the dinner and a bottle of bourbon for me, then two legs of lamb and a ham. Now I have to settle on a really offensive smelling pipe tobacco to smoke so they'll leave me alone on the patio. Any suggestions welcome. In the meantime I'm enjoying a bowl of Dunhill's Ye Olde Signe in a virgin MM Country Gentleman apple. I love that first smoke in a fresh cob.
I'm enjoying an unplanned day off, started with Cult BRM in a DG (?).
Moving on with Virginia Gold Black and Gold in a DG Savoy.
1792 Flake stinks to high heaven. IMO so does Happy Bogie and Black Irish X. This Peterson Irish Flake I've been smoking seems like it would have a pretty bad room note but after a charring light then a trip to the house to fetch a couple beers, it actually smelled pretty good back in the barn. However, in sufficiently strong doses I'd bet the Irish Flake would end up driving most people from the room... as well as peeling the paint off the walls...
Oh, and Merry Christmas! :D
