Royal Yacht in a MM cob
Just back from my extended holiday weekend at my trailer in the boonies. Had a great Thanksgiving dinner with friends, some of whom I see far too seldom. It was a weekend of overeating, lots of good wine and just enough good bourbon, very good cigars, and many bowls of good tobacco. I took several tins up with me, but the last of my tub of aged H&H Anni Kake was the biggest hit and it was gone before the weekend was over. Now back home in my comfortable chair and with a belly full of homemade chicken and wild rice soup, I'm about to put a match to a bowl of Anni Kake from a freshly opened tin in a MM Country Gentleman. I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday as much as I did.
Peter Stokkebye 701 Virginia in a straight Irish Second
Fired a couple bowls of oriental blend in a cob. Had homemade potato soup for dinner
and been fighting the cats off since. Moving on with a bowl of Dunhill London Mixture
in a Dunhill Canted Dublin.

This was the one I made a while back, smokes great, probably my favorite pipe in the little collection of mine.
Been away for the holidays. I did find some time to do some smoking with my bro-in-law.
Popped a tin of Dunhill Standard Mixture (2012) and a tin of McClelland Holiday Spirit (2014), and have been smoking those.
Also smoked some 30+ year old Mac Baren Virginia #1, that @Haebar sent to me a while back. I'm stringing it out as long as I can, as it is pretty delicious.

Have you smoked the Dunhill Standard Mixture? Is the London mixture similar, but with more latakia?
Not yet, But I am a BIG fan of Dunhill Flake and Nightcap.London Mixture is a great addition to the mix.
I can switch off with my CB aros and orientals then cool off with the Dunhill blends.I need tocheck
my cellar, I don't think I have any Standard Mixture, I have Flake, Ready Rubbed and Nightcape,
as well as London Mixture.I also want to try Early Morning Pipe, should be close to Nightcap.
A wee bit of Newminster 400 Flake in the little Savinelli. It's pairing nicely with a gose.

Potlatch in a meer with coffee.Leftover chili for dinner.
Now that I'm fired up I think I'll get me a bowl of
Captain Black Royal and a coco,,,,,,,,with RUM !
I believe this is an old 1930's era Kaywoodie Super Grain, but I'm not positive. It has "Super Grain" over "Kaywoodie" and "Imported Briar" over "5193D", but there's no stinger. Doesn't appear to have the stinger cut out so I don't know?.....

Had some GL Pease Sixpence for the first time.
Just judging by one bowl, its okay. Don't know that it will unseat any of my favorite Vapers.
NOTHING again! Still fighting this danged cold :( Chewing some G&H Black Pigtail though. I know you guys worry about me, but I am getting my RDA of vitamin N :)
A quick bowl of C&D junkyard dog in an old ugly Custombilt.
This is a fun, old time burley blend with a little lat to give it substance

Had a bowl of Stonehaven in a bent Savi Alligator while finishing up my outdoor xmas decorations.
I've discovered today that Stonehaven tastes best bone dry. I accidentally left a flake out for like 5 days and was worried it was toast, but decided to light it up regardless. Tasted excellent and smoked down without maintenance to boot!

When I was a kid I lived on a small farm in rural Maine, and the farmer up the road raised hogs. He once told me that the only thing he used tobacco for was to soak in water and then spray the water on his hogs to kill ticks. The tobacco I'm smoking right now just brought that memory back to me, Five Brothers in a MM Legend. The vitamin N content in this tobacco probably would have killed the hogs as well as the ticks. Nasty stuff, but I do enjoy it every once in a while.

oriental Blend in a Brigham brandy pot. to be followed closely by Dunhill London Mixture in a DG Savoy.
and to finish off the night Nightcap in a Dunhill Canted Dublin. Cold night so I'm drinking coffee and going
to get me a shot of Johnny Walker Red (Scotch).
C&D Corn Cob Pipe (and a button nose) in a MM Legend. This is my third bowl from this tin and I'm trying to like it, but it's just not happening. The burley is just harsh and overpowering. Maybe with a few years of age it may mellow and be more well behaved, but this is the only tin I bought and I won't be buying another.
I'm not a real burley fan. Though I always keep Carter Hall on hand I use it mainly for breaking in new briars, and it's much more civilized than this blend. The tin note on this reminds me somewhat of Prince Albert, a blend I don't particularly care for. If this is representative of C&D burleys then I'll be avoiding them all.
