I like SOS too!
You want burley with flavor? Solani 656! That'll be the next tin I open. Probably tomorrow.
Now puffing F&T Cut Virginia Plug.

C&D Tuskegee Airman in a MM Legend. This tin is dated 2011, though I believe it was opened two years later. Remarkably, it still has a fair bit of moisture. I remembered this being a fairly latakia forward blend but it seems to have mellowed somewhat with the lat slipping more into the background. Quite a pleasant smoke.
Came across a six year old tin of C&D Bayou Morning Flake with a slight bulge on the top and bottom, (a sure sign that it's ripe and ready to smoke :-) ), and I so wanted to open it. But after tossing six open tins last night that were dry beyond all hope of reviving, I promised myself I would finish off some of the partial tins in my cabinet before opening more. So it's Mac Baren HH Acadian Perique in a MM Diplomat.
Puffing a 50-50 mixture of F&T Cut Virginia Plug and Solani 633 VaPer. Lordy – good!
Having some homemade flake in a cheap no-name briar. This batch is from a year and a half ago and is mostly bright VA, but with some other stuff incl. something @Tobias Lutz sent me, but not Tobias' Surprise, topped with rum. Anyway, it's pretty good in case y'all were wondering.
Damn ! I'm telling y'all,3 trailers,an 18',a 14',and a little 8'. Full of furniture.
Not a box in the mix.And this was all big real wood stuff, you know, the kind
that weighs a ton.And to top it off,a pool table.2x8 construction with a
true slate surface.Took four of us to lift one end at a time.We not only
loaded and unloaded but also, all but the pool table went upstairs into
storage. So tonight I'm doing mellow and easy,Carter Hall followed by
Prince Albert in my cobs. And if I'm still verticle I might just indulge myself
and fill a bowl of Dunhill Flake in one of my Meers.A couple of sandwiches,
turkey and colby on rye, with coffee and with my smokes scotch on the rocks !
Elizabethan Mixture in a 1/8 bent rusticated Mark Tinsky bulldog. Trying to power through some of these tins so I can open some new ones.
Little comparo between fresh FVF and 6.5 year aged FVF.
Both delicious in their own ways.
Escudo in an underused Eckhard Stohr with a dark Cumberland stem. Not exactly sure what to call this shape but it can be seen here on his site. It's the 5th pipe in album #1.
Eckhard Stöhr Pfeifen
Just opened another tin of Solani 656, Aged Burley Flake. Such rich flavor -- practicality chewy! I'm always happy when my tobacco rotation lands on this one.
McClelland No. 5125 Coyote Classic in an un-named Italian prince briar for the commute to work this am.
Erik Nording Hunter Blend Labrador.....
H&H Virginia Spice in a cob.
Dunhill Flake in a meerchaum.Spagetti fer dinner, coffee chaser.
C&D Haunted Bookshop in a no-name briar. Starting a second bowl; had to abort the first one - a wayward slightly damp leaf found its way into the air hole and there was no recovering from it. Nonetheless, it's an excellent tobacco. Got it from our friend @Haebar a while back.
Update: I packed the 2nd bowl a little looser and it's burning just fine with no plugging.
& then my Mr. Brog ran out of fuel, so I had to use a bic disposable for backup. And I'm (was, actually) drinking a glass of cold hibiscus tea, good pairing. And I'm smoking in relative darkness. In doing so, I managed to drop the bic into my tea. So I had to finish it off with no tea and another bic.
Upon reflection, I determined that that was the worst thing that happened to me all day, so I guess I'd have to call it a pretty good day. At least I didn't drown my Mr. Brog :)
This from ESPN "We have a new candidate for worst Yankees loss of the season. Red Sox come into the ninth trailing 5-2, leave with 7-5 win. Hanley Ramirez with crushing 3-run HR off Dellin Betances to win it"
Now I'm celebrating with a bowl of Carter Hall in a MM Country Gentleman and 3 fingers of Bulleit Bourbon. Life is good.
Holiday Mixture match in a Marxman straight bulldog
Dunhill MM965 with a good dose of perique in a MM Eaton this morning.
Carter Hall in a massive 1/8 bent Bjarne Hand Carved egg with some gorgeous flame grain on both sides of the bowl and reaching back up the long shank.
Just finished a bowl of Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture in a Savinelli Bing's Favorite.
Having some John Bull in a cheap briar. It's a nice burley/VA pouch tobacco with a hint of Latakia and Cavendish and little if any added flavor. Mild, mellow, burns well.
I picked this up quite some time ago, approx. a year I think, didn't like it much at first, but incarceration in the jar has taught it to behave :)
SG Navy Flake in a MM cob
Enjoying my first ever bowl of C&D Captain Bob's Blend in an HIS egg. I'm enjoying this more than I anticipated. Grape goodness with a touch of latakia. I think this is one I may have to stock up on.
Haven't hit a pipe in awhile, after a look at Baccy this one spoke.Stoney in its Vauen...

Inaugaral smoke in a recent gift. Dunhill Flake in a Dunhill 37 F/T circa 1974.
Great smoke in a GREAT smoking pipe.
C&D Billy Budd in a Marxman straight bulldog
I think I found a perfect morning smoke,Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky in a Casillero pipe
Was considering corned beef hash topped with fried eggs for breakfast but good sense prevailed and I had a bowl of Cheerios with non-fat milk and a nectarine. Now I'm rewarding myself with GLP Jack Knife Plug in a John Bessai rusticated bent bulldog and a second mug of coffee.
Liked it so much I went back for seconds:
Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky in a Brigham Pot
Filling a MM Diplomat with Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture as I await the start of Sunday Night Baseball, Red Sox vs Yankees in Fenway Park. Might even pair it up with a bourbon and a splash and some chips and salsa.
I am still among the living. taking a pipe sabbatical to focus on nasal snuff. I shall return.
