Ah. Right you are. The plug was marked 2011. It smoked like it, too. Can't wait to start carving on it tonight.

And just to show that the Tico Tico duo can play for real, here's a little Scarlatti. (Scarlatti is seriously underrated!) This performance actually makes me cry it is so marvelously played. Perfection.
Morning Jim,
I hope that the snow's gone for you today. Maybe set a bowl of Royal Yacht out for Mother Nature? Can't hurt and if she doesn't smoke it then you can!
I listened to ~15 pieces by Tatyana and the Bach Allegro (your first post) I feel to be her best. With more listens she has some synch problems (bass/arpeggio) but she's right there and has the intangibles. I don't have your ear or experience (audio's lesser quality too) for me to compare the young lady in Duo Siqueira Lima with Tatyana. The Scarlatti piece is delicious and it sounds like a harpsichord arrangement. In this Chopin Valse, Tatyana's inconsistent but when she's on it's uniquely guitar and (to me) very beautiful. She's a keeper.
Tatyana and I have decided to name our first, Jim, whether it's a boy or girl.

Chopin arrangements are really tough on CG. The piano is so big and lound, and four fingers just can't compete with ten, so the guitar is badly over-matched. Pair that with the quintessential writer of piano music taking the instrument to its harmonic limits and it becomes hard to get the feel of the original music. This arrangement works quite well, though, and she plays it very nicely indeed!
Heading back to the Royal Yacht for another sail through the concert hall.

What I hear in Tatyana is the ability to shape and phrase individual notes beautifully. Her shortcoming (at this point) is that she has small lapses of making the whole.
Three years ago, Maurice Andre, the French trumpet player, died. At any speed or in any register, his notes are perfectly crafted and delivered as a sublime whole. Tatyana is missing the last part yet but she's very young and Andre struggled with this early in his career too. He's (to me) the greatest musician that I've ever heard.
For you folks who may not like classical music, give this a couple of seconds until Maurice starts playing an he really heats up at ~3:00, you might be surprised, (old recording and the orchestra's not much - just listen to the man play).
