I just opened a two yo tin of Wessex Classic Virginia — puffing a fill of it in my Caminetto Pot with silver spigot mount. CV is a red Virginia with a bit of Perique. A savory blend, but very hard to find in-stock.

I wish I could talk you into picking up a tin of Samuel Gawith Navy Flake iin your next order, smoking a few bowls and posting your opinion. I think SGNF has got to be the most consistently tasty blend I've ever smoked. Other blends come and go and I enjoy those too but this is one I never tire of. I imagine your review would probably be something like: "well, it's okay... but I'm not too crazy about it"

I probably would like it. But I’ve got so much Virginia, of so many varieties (including Samuel Gawith FVF), in stock that I kind of dread the thought of finding another one that I like.

Even so, I might try one tin. Sigh.

Haha! I know exactly what you mean. I've got more tobacco stockpiled than I'll ever smoke.
I'm going to have to start hanging around elementary schools and giving away tobacco samplers to the kids.

Srsly tho, I have a lot of blends that just sit there and a lot of blends in tins that I'm hoarding (coff coff... McClelland) and then I probably have half a dozen favorites. SGNF is the only blend that gives me the occasional rootbeer (or should I say sassafras) note. It's very nice (as are most SG blends IMO)

SPC Mississippi River in a no-name bent billiard.
Sure don't like this blend as much as I used to. Sorta weak and boring. Needs a coin of Happy Bogie mixed in or something. Maybe it'll wake up a little further down the bowl.

The SPC Mississippi River never did wake up. Also couldn't find my jar of Happy Bogie to try and give it a boost so I gave up, dumped it out and went to bed. Tonight I'm looking to G&H Louisiana Flake to make up for last night's failure.

    -edit-

Much better! Gawith tobaccos have flavor. You may or may not like the flavor, depending on your tastes but at least they HAVE flavor.

Puffing Gordon Pym (Dan Tobacco) in my old Kirsten. This is the only English mixture that I like, but I like it a lot. Mild and tasty. I don’t plan to look further for other English mixtures — this is the one for me.

Puffing a 50/50 mixture of Hamborger Veermaster and Gordon Pym (both by Dan Tobacco). Both are mild and tasty. The HV is a straight Virginia, the Pym is an English mixture. A successful experiment.

    Merry Christmas, all!
