Got a cobload of Sam Gawith, Navy Flake smoldering along in my deer blind. Got some hot coffee to accompany it.
I never smoke in the morning unless I'm hunting. Coffee goes good with this.
A little rubbed out Erinmore flake in this little un-named number.

That “unnamed number” looks like a nice little pot, Blake.
Puffing F&T Vintage in my old Kirsten.
Now doing a little afternoon hunting (armed smoking) with a MM General full of G&H, Louisiana Flake
That will come in time. Try the above and see if that helps any. Drawing slow is certainly key.
Also, if you've found a blend that works for you, stick with that for the time being and use the occasion to develop technique. Then try other blends from time to time and see how they compare. I didn't get much from the ropes and twists at first either... well, nothing but a woozy feeling that made me want to lie down. (I was smoking them too wet and puffing too fast but ymmv) Also, don't be stingy with the retro. Pipe blends do tend to lean toward the fragrant end of the taste vs smell spectrum. Not all of them tho.
I thought it was you, thanks. And it is Velvet and not Prince Albert like I said it was.
I've smoked several bowls of Five Brothers in an oval-shank Dunhill billiard this morning.
