They say you're supposed to keep the spirits off the cork gasket but that became impossible since chunks of gunk plugged the hole in the ferrule. I had to dump out the big end and just wipe the gasket clean with a dry rag right away. Went thru about 3 fingers of rum in the process. I also used a few gentle blasts of compressed air to blow out some of the junk I couldn't reach. It's drying now, hopefully none the worse for wear.
Way to go, that's quite an undertaking. Let us know how it smokes after it dries out. I sold one of my gourd Calabashes last week on Ebay; somebody in Hong Kong bought it.

Just got back from a cabin at a nearby state park where I spent the weekend. Smoked several bowls of Daughters & Ryan Rowland in various pipes over the weekend.

    It was nice.
I think I got a little citrus notes in there but I was actually working while I smoked. I should really sit and enjoy next time. Pay more attention to the tobacco.

    Sveet!
That cob will steal quite a bit of flavor at first. It'll steal less and less the more it breaks in and blackens the bowl. I enjoy my cobs but never look forward to breaking in a new one, although I do enjoy the corny flavor you get a bit of at first.
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Puffing “The Mallard” (Dan Tobacco) in my Tinsky brandy. SmokingPipes says of TM: “…There was no need to add any flavorings to enhance its aroma…”, so apparently a nice room note. I can’t say about that, but it’s a very tasty Virginia with LOTS of flavor.

And SmokingPipes says that this brandy has a “broad shouldered bottom”. That description gives me a chuckle.
    Cognition?
    On.

Aaaannndddd we are off! No idea if I am doing any of this right but thanks to everyone's help and hours of YouTube videos this is my first go!

Carter Hall was the best thing my local shop if you can call it a pipe shop had. Having it in a Dr. plumb flat grip 9438 as I took a liking to this one out of the collection I got.
