I've had a plug of my English shelf blend (aka leftovers) in the press for the past two weeks. Took it out last night and smoked some this evening. I really like it!
I had just enough in the jar for one more plug (which I put in the press this evening), then that particular "blend" will never again be duplicated.

Last night I had another bowl of P&C's Match Presbyterian in a Dunhill billiard. This stuff is growing on me; it smokes cool and dry. It's mostly Virginias and Orientals with a touch of Latakia. But I better not get attached to it because its on backorder at P&C - maybe on the list to be discontinued?

I haven't smoked any English mixtures for years and years. Something put me off them, but it was so long ago that I don't remember what it was. But a nudge by @Aguineapig induced me to give them another go, so I ordered a tin of Solani 779, English Luxury Mixture, and I'm now puffing my first fill.
I chose that one for a couple of reasons: First, I've been impressed by the quality of Solani tobaccos. Second, reviews of the 779 were generally positive, and a couple of them said that the Syrian Latakia had been judiciously applied -- that sounded good to me.
So how do I like it, you ask. Well, the tin note is quite nice -- even exotic, for a Virginia guy like me. And it tastes pretty good too, by golly, and is a change of pace for me. I suspect that I'll be ordering a few more tins.
All the basics are met too: it packs nicely, and takes fire easily. So thanks for the nudge, @Aguineapig !
