I've not heard of the DG Berwyck. Sounds interesting, have you posted a picture of it in the past?

I just reached for my jar of ready rubbed -- Wessex Classic Virginia. I mostly smoke flake tobacco, partly because I like the compact storage of the small 50g rectangular tins. But this dark red VaPer is so tasty that I tolerate its space-inefficient round tin. Mostly rubbed out, but some chunks (OK by me). Generally mild, but just a bit of an edge that's part of its flavor complement. No stems, and takes fire easily. A very fine tobacco.

I'm giving this Consolidated Ready Rubbed another try in a Dr. Grabow Grand Duke straight billiard. Just discovered that it smokes much better if you just gravity fill the bowl and don't pack it very much. This way it is smoking cool and agreeable.

I concur with your assessment. Burleys w/o extra flavoring tend to be nutty and a little bitter, but 5 Bros has some hardwood notes as well.

It's the 2nd one down from the top. I like it a lot.

Another bowl of my second round of BryGuy's Deep English Cake.
It is smooth and smokey, but is a still a little flatter than the first mixture.
Writing down some tweaks for round 3.

I like it too. When I was a teenager I had one exactly like it. Does it have the metal condenser in the stem or is it a filter pipe?

This morning I started a bowl of GH Dark Flake in a repaired Dunhill Canadian. Discovered that the Dark Flake is as strong as many of their ropes. Had to put it down and just finished it during my lunch hour.
