Short Smoke Theatre is playing a double feature: I'm half way through this bowl of Troost Aromatic in a medium bend 2002 MM Legend cob.
McClelland Blakeney’s Best Tawny Flake in a post WW2 Pre-Republic Peterson Dublin straight smooth X155 Bulldog with a sterling silver band.
Meridian and Odyssey mix in a Savinelli 114 ks. Just about done with this, then I'm gonna pop a fresh tin of Latakia Flake and see what all the fuss is about.
Quoted you here cuz I liked what you said.
Keep going and I'll be convinced that you're not actually smoking at all.
I can be, although not at this moment, one of those guys who smokes large bowls. Five grams is a medium sized bowl for me. Hmmm...do the math, 5gr/3 = 1.67gr - is your bolus' that small? :)
Ever the contrarian, I submit my current selection of pipe and bolus:
2015 Gawith Hoggarth & Co., Glengarry Flake in a pre-WWII Barling's Make Ye Olde Wood EL smooth saddle billiard (group 4 size and no more).
MacBaren HH Bold Kentucky in a smooth medium bend post-WW2 Pre-Republic Peterson Killarney 9BC with a sterling silver band.
Moonshine Pipe Co XXX in a MM Twain churchwarden
Louisiana Red in a 2002 smooth Rinaldo Silver Line 3 EGER 05 paneled horn.
2015 Peter Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake in a 1961 Barling's Make #5179 smooth saddle billiard.
Has a maple nose that comes through in the smoke but isn't too offensive, I can tolerate it in moderation.
Very interesting cut that makes the flake a little easier to pack. Typical of Stokkebye Flakes, not boldly flavorful, not heavily nuanced but well made, comfortable and enjoyable and affordable.
First bowl of Latakia Flake in a Big Ben dublin. This stuff is actually pretty tangy. Reminds me a lot of Old Dark Fired. Not what I was expecting.
