Half way through this bowl of Dunbar in a post WW2 Pre-Republic Peterson Dublin straight smooth X155 Bulldog with a sterling silver band and a black vulcanite p-lip stem. Ice water and bergs is my evening drink.
A bowl of Carter Hall in a pre WW II John Bessai smooth billiard marked Cleveland, O. over USA. The pipe has darkened considerably over the years, but in bright light there still can be seen some beautiful bird's eye running from the heel up the front of the bowl. If a previous owner hadn't had such a heavy hand with a pipe knife around the inside of the rim it would be a candidate for professional restoration. Still, it's a great smoker and a treasured piece of my Bessai collection.
It's been 1 year today the world lost a great man. Enjoying a bowl of my grandfather's favorite tobacco, Amphora brown, in my favorite pipe. Wish he was here to share a bowl with me.
