Had a very nice bowl of McClelland 2015 (from 2015). I find a rubout and a looser pack is best with this one.
Smoked in a Barling Regency Excel T.V.F. I received from
@NeverBend
.
Nice baccy in a nice pipe!

I've found that if I let a Lakeland scented tobacco slowly dry out and then rehydrate it, it takes a lot of that perfumey scent away. I've also got jars of Rum Flake and Bob's Chocolate Flake stored the same way. I check on them every couple of months to see how they're progressing.
Oh, almost forgot: I had a very small quantity of left-in-the-pipe Sam Gawith Chocolate Flake in a MM freehand this afternoon. Very nice blend with no Lakeland scent whatsoever that I can detect, but the mostly smoked, then over night sit didn't do it any favors... wasn't horrible, just wasn't very good.
Hi Bill,
The Lakeland essence seems to differ smoker to smoker. G&H Brown Flake has too much for me but SG 1792 doesn't.
I like all my flakes, but especially Gawith Hoggarth, to have moisture where it makes the flavors pop, so I never dry them. My chunk of Louisiana Flake just awakened from its vacuum sleep is at an excellent rh now but I'll need to humidify it or it will become more dry than I like it.
Speaking of that 2015 Gawith Hoggarth Louisiana Flake and its current optimal rh, I'm about to smoke some in a 1950s Barling's Make Ye Olde Wood #251 (smooth) taper billiard.

Peterson's Connies Choice in a Satin Grain. I really like this aromatic blend, as it's not one of those overpowering ones that make you feel like you're smoking chocolate éclair's, cinnamon rolls, caramel, coffee beans and Twinkies at the same time......

I purchased a tin of it a few months ago, but haven't opened it yet as I am trying to smoke up some of my blends already in jars. 40 jars is where I'm trying to draw that imaginary line.....

Yeah, I know what you mean with the quantity of open jars. I'm trying to go through the ones I have small amounts of myself.
If you like straightforward English blends, you'll like the Meat Pie.
