I had some McClelland P.M. Pipe in a Savinelli 320 this afternoon. Beautiful day for a pipe in the hammock here.

Jim,
If the pipe's stamped Upshall (and has the JU on the stem) then then that's what it is. The walnut finish was usually a "P" grade and you may find the grade (letter) on the side of the shank (near the bowl). Tilshead is the little town where the workshop is located. Your pipe is a James Upshall (first) but if the pipe only had the Tilshead stamp then it's one of their seconds that are called "Tilsheads".
The Tilshead are true seconds, made from the same briar, by the same craftsmen and only surface flaws prevented them from being Upshalls. In 1982-1984 they sold for $29.95 (red) and $39.95 (natural).

Just finished smoking St. James Flake in a very early Ascorti straight New Dear KS billiard with a smooth shank.
Thank you for the Upshall info, @NeverBend .
Jim, can you see a letter on the stem (near the bowl)?
2015 McClelland #2010 in a 1985 Ser Jacopo (Rowlette) saddle panel with sterling band.
This is the first Rowlette that Jacopo made (it's unmarked). I named the line for my friend who lives in Rowlette. It's a candle wax (dripping) finish. I sold this pipe 30 years ago and then bought it a few months ago on eBay. First few smokes weren't encouraging but the last three have are approaching elite.

@NeverBend . Yes. there is a "P" there.

Rattray's Sweet Fragrant (courtesy of @Tobias Lutz , as is often the case lately) in a cob. I'm really trying to like Burley blends....!

Dunhill Elizabethan in a MM Legend.
Some homemade flake, Batch 27, in a cob.
This one's a brick of "Tobias Surprise," a blend by our friend @Tobias Lutz , and, to quote from my notes, "all the usual stuff." That would include VAs, burley, perique, latakia, and some orientals. Not sure what's in the Tobias Surprise but it tastes/smells like kind of a vanilla/whisky blend. At any rate, Batch 27 is a keeper :)
A couple minutes away from smoking Tilbury in a 2000 thin stem sandblasted black silver band spigot Ardor Urano S. Holmes #68/100 D.R. briar calabash with a smooth flared top.

The last of my stash of Solani White and Black 763 in a 2002 IMP smooth full bend egg shaped meer.
Oh man. I just got finished with my very first bowl of FM Cellar.
I cannot remember a tobacco that I fell in love with this fast. From the charring light, I knew I was going to love it. Love everything about it from the tin note to the sweet flavor. Definitely a keeper.

Had some PA in a Country Gent. It's the only cob I use for blends with latakia. And I have to say the slight ghosting went well with the burley.
