I wish I had thought of that the other day. I was burning my fingers on a Nub Macchiato it was so good. I should have put it in a pipe and kept smoking.
It really changes the perspective of the cigar when you put it in a pipe and it obviously makes it last a little longer. The trick is a good fit; I have one pipe for Robustos and another pipe for Coronas.

Funny, after starting this thread I smoked a pipe today and could only wish I'd had a cigar instead. But it was Mixture No. 79..... http://www.cigarbum.com/forum/pipe-r...html#post70010

Consummate Pipe Bum
After a very long hiatus from conventional cigarettes, I started doing RYO cigs (several years ago), but then (re)discovered cigars (had dabbled in a few in the 90s) and lost all interest in cigs. Got a "customer appreciation pack" of samples of Lane Limited tobaccos from P&C after purchasing some cigars from them (might have been before the CI merger) and took to them right away. Went much deeper and developed my palate for pipe blends pretty quickly, so in short time pipe tobacco began to eclipse the cigar. Still, I do smoke a lot of cigars, though I have lately favored smaller vitolas. Presently I smoke a pipe several times a day. Mini cigars and cigarillos a couple times a day. Bigger cigars 2-3 times a week. Nasal snuff and snus all day when I'm not smoking.

Basket of Deplorables
I smoke a cigar when a pipe is inconvenient.
I usually smoke a couple a week and two
double coronas when I ride the Deere.

Started with cigars, led to pipes. Smoke each about 50/50.
It's not a real hobby unless it interferes with your work.

Will work for tobacco.
In the Summer months I will smoke about one cigar a week.
I smoke a pipe almost every day, and average about two bowls a day.
Nasal snuff is my crutch at work. Quite a few folks that fully deserved to be choked are still breathing thanks to the several snuff boxes I keep in my pocket at work.

I started with cigars as a lad in the fifties, but in University, I discovered women liked pipe smoke a lot more. I still prefer cigars, but as a pensioner can only afford them as a rare treat. When I started smoking, I could buy cigars three for a quarter and a good Cuban, which were legal then, for a dollar. My favourite cigar now is a La Gloria Cubana Series R. I can smoke a pipe for several days for the price of one cigar.

This is definitely a plus. As a family man and also a full time student on a budget, this is huge.
I can smoke mid range cigars, but my favorites are on the expensive side. In my current situation I don't get to smoke many Ligas, Padron 64s or Anejos. However my favorite pipe tobacco is very much within my reach on a daily basis. My favorite (at the moment anyway), Full Virginia Flake is only $11 a tin or $30 for 250g. I can smoke a lot of FVF for the price of a couple of my favorite cigars.

Bummin' Around
My father in law got me into cigars with the birth of my first daughter. Loved them for years, now 6 1/2. Was interested in getting into pipes for a couple of years, due to surfing the former puff website, where I learned all about cigars. My sister came out to visit in March and she wanted to buy a pipe. So I joined and bought a couple, along with some tobacco. Since then I have been favoring pipes but still having my weekly cigar. i am much happier after having smoked a pipe versus cigar, if that makes any sense. Love the taste, smell and the experience. One thing I have noticed is that if I have something to do in the garage or garden I will go for a cigar. If I have nothing at all to do, or just making to do lists or something, I will go for a pipe. Cigars are easier to manage right now, especially being a pipe newbie. I can see myself favoring pipes a lot, but for the moment do not see cigars going away.
