Hey Steve, what cuts of tobacco have you been trying.
Obviously plugs and flakes have more of a learning curve than ribbon cuts do.
For ribbon cuts, I found this video to be extremely helpful. I was getting frustrated as well, and this turned it around for me.

Paul, I have been smoking ribbon cuts. It's the ritual and relights that I don't care for. I have also practiced keeping it lit by keeping the pipe in my mouth and as I breathe I very lightly breathe in and out of the pipe, while most of my breathing is through my nose. I have watched a bunch of Muttonchop piper videos. They are very helpful. I just need to learn to enjoy the whole process of pipe smoking. I am a lazy SOB.
