Looks like one of your stems broke. If you want to replace it and it is a filter type, I have a new extra you can have. I always get new stems off ebay for all my cobs and the "stock" stems pile up.
I will let YOU fill in the blanks _________ _________ _________

Wayne, that is very kind of you! But, I had ordered some extra bits to try their other sizes and styles...I just didn't include them in this photo.

    Thank you very much though!

Lesson learned today: Never buy a pipe on Ebay when the description starts with "I don't know anything about pipes, but...."

If I had a functioning camera I'd post some. But even the sharpest picture couldn't convey the horrible, overpowering "old lady's perfume" smell on this one. That, along with the half assed tenon replacement job made this one a complete loss.

The old lady perfume bit had me excited! No lose there! Another Lakeland pipe yes!

But the poor tenon hack job crushed my little heart. Poor thing.

On a side note, you sure do get a lot of Lakeland snot pipes! I would say out of the last 30-40 pipes I have bought off the Bay, maybe 1 or 2 had a Lakeland ghost in them...

Al in all, it wasn't a bad week. Four pipes, three winners. A couple of very nice Wally Frank pipes, which I've developed quite an affinity for, and a no name sandblasted straight billiard for next to nothing with a nice open draw and spot on drilling. Too bad about the Lakeland pipe though, a nice looking Algerian briar with some birdseye. It could be cleaned up with a salt treatment, and passing a drill bit through the stem would probably solve the tenon problem, and maybe if I get tired of looking at it I may just do that.

I too love my Wally Franks...they are often steals for the prices that they go for!

And it never hurts to try and save another pipe! Lord knows I have re-drilled more than my share of pipes in my day...

    Hi Warren,

Wally Frank had pipes made for them by several manufacturers over the years. Perhaps the most common Wally Frank private labels were made by Weber Pipes. Several upper tier shops, like Barclay-Rex, Connoisseur and Ehrlichs had some of their pipes made by Weber at one time or another.

They made nice quality pipes, generally at affordable prices. Enjoy yours.

    Pete
