Been wanting to add another pipe to the rotation so I stopped by the B&M this afternoon and picked up an unfinished Savinelli. It is a series III which means the briar has some fills but I aint fancy so not really worried about that.
I'm on the balcony now with it and it smokes as good as any pipe I have. Really nice smoker.
It will be dedicated to VA blends and Vapers so I'm breaking it in with some Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture.
Check out my Youtube channel, Razorback Piper Guy if you like that sort of thing.

Well, 2 days in a row.
Was at an antique shop today and picked up this pipe. It is a King's Cross, which a quick Google search on my phone told me was a sub brand of Savinelli. So I trusted it would be a decent smoker and picked it up for $15.
It has some rim darkening and teeth chatter, but a rubber bit covers that anyway.
It's got a salt treatment in it right now so maybe Wednesday or so I'll see how she smokes. It's nothing special but should be a good smoking pipe I think.
If anybody has any more information on these like what years they made them or anything like that, feel free to chime in and enlighten me.

Are you going to finish it, or just leave it raw?
You oughta know not to stand by the window, somebody see you up there.

I love the way they darken as you handle and smoke them.

Got two big bent Cellini billiards on Ebay from judperl, one of my favorite estate pipe dealers. Paid less than $20 for each of them:

Tin of each of Frog Morton Cellar & Bayou, 4 oz. of PS Luxury Twist Flake tobacco and an Early Model Super Grain Kaywoodie. This pipe is stamped with a four digit number which situates its production year between 1931 and 1938. Because of the introduction of the "Imported Briar" stamping in 1935, the pipe has been manufactured between 1935 and 1938....

I was hoping that Pipes & Cigars was going to have a sale during the holidays but they didn't.
@Aguineapig
told me about a 20% off coupon code to Cigars International right before the new year so I stocked up on some McClelland Virginia tins for cellaring.
I ended up with 20% off, free shipping and a free Colibri Macanudo cigar cutter.

Nice! that's a good little boost for your cellar.
I just got a lb of Stokkebye Proper English in yesterday, used their free shipping code, and paid for most of it with the gift card I got with a ten pack of 5 vegas classics. So ten 5 vegas, and a pound of proper English for 28 bucks. I paid for it using money I trickle-accumulate from survey sites and clicks; I actually pay for a good bit of tobacco that way.

I have a question-- have you noticed any difference between McC bulk and tins with regard to humectant presence? I have only had two of their blends (PM Pipe, and 5100), both bulks, and while they had their merits, I really didn't like that there seemed to be a good bit of humectant/PG. Especially at the (nearly 50 dollar/lb) price point. I wondered if they only sauced the bulks with humectant. Not that I can afford to stock up on their tins either, being even more expensive than the bulks (plus I already have an unfortunate penchant for absolutely loving G&H blends already).
I try to stick with Stokkebye and C&D bulk, and hunting for mason jars at thrift shops, to keep things *somewhat* fiscally responsible
