I have had a few Virginia's and VaPers recently that made an impression on me that I really enjoyed. Of these here, only the Chelsea Morning have I tried before. The Virginias are for exploration.

I have some decent briars like 2 entry level Savinellis and they both smoke very good. I have a pre-Republic Peterson that smokes very nice
But this is the first higher end (to me anyway) pipe that I have had the pleasure of smoking and there is certainly a difference. Maybe I'm just as giddy as a school girl and am giving it more credit than it deserves, I dunno.
But I know I'm loving it.

These are mostly for rolling Brohibas, but posting it here as there's some pipe tobacco in there too.
Top row, l to r, a pound each of Nicaraguan Viso, Dominican seco, and Criollo Ligero, which I'm pretty sure is Nicaraguan.
Center row: half a pound of blending Latakia, an ounce of Full Virginia Flake, and a small sample of PA (shade) wrapper.
Bottom: a small sample of MD 609

It's hard to beat a Savinelli for smoking pleasure. One of my earliest pipes was a Savinelli Deluxe bulldog that smoked great but was kind of ugly with fills. Are you partial to the Dublin shape?

Oh I'm with you and for the most part, I don't care what they look like. One of my best smokers is a bent unfinished Savinelli Series III which has several fills that get more obvious all the time as it darkens. But I don't care. It smokes awesome.
And yes, I do really enjoy the dublin shape.

Sorry, wrong thread. It was my last post of the night when I was sleepy.
But to steer it back onto topic, I did recently acquire a lot of a dozen estate pipes. Nothing spectacular, mostly Medicos, a Yello-Bole, some nameless basket pipes, one WDC, and one seriously old pipe with a horn stem. I was able to refurbish nearly all of them, the remainder likely to be re-auctioned for people with more skill than I to play with.

Picked up a Grabow Starfire for less than $9. In good condition, but needs a little work. Sanitizing, then will work on cleaning up the stem and probably topping the bowl a bit.
The grain is really cool.
