Stanwell Extra Thin High Absorbent Pipe Cleaners hold their cotton pretty good. I run them through the Kaywoodie stinger holes and they don't shed....

I'm going to try those. But I have a 6-months supply of Long's on hand, and I'm too cheap to throw them away.

I got a good deal on a case of Peterson pipe cleaners last year. They are super-absorbent and are not too thick. But I used to use Long's and Dill's in the past and they served me well. Just be sure you don't buy them in an arts and crafts store because lots of them are synthetic and don't absorb.
