If it is anything like the ones out towards me they will have an assortment of pipe cleaners, a few cheap pipes and the standard otc pipe blends such as Prince Albert, Captain Black, etc. It's the same assortment of tobacco you can sometimes find at Walmart or bigger gas stations.
Check the reservation smoke shops down that way too. I think they had a similar bunch of those brands the last time we went to one. It will save you on taxes at least.

That’s a great score, Kevin! If nothing else, from the nostalgia.
Here is a good resource to help sort out what you might have:
English index - Pipes : Logos & Markings
Even many of the everyday pipes from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s can be good smokers! Don’t know until you try.

recommendations on a few starter tobaccos to try? I assume like cigars there is junk to stay away from and then high end stuff? I wouldnt mimd being right in the middle.
ARGH! I had a whole response typed out on my phone, and it disappeared!
So, here we go again.
A solid start would be to try multiple bulk options that cover the basics of tobacco styles. It's not the only way to start, and not even the best way for every person; but it may be for you.
Virginias:
Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake
Samuel Gawith Best Brown Flake
Sutliff 507 Virginia Slices
Orlik Golden Slice (In a tin, but cheap)
Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake (has a hint of perique, but it falls in my virginia category)
Mac Baren Virgninia #1
Virginia/Perique:
Samuel Gawith St. James Flake
Hearth & Home Anniversary Flake
Hearth & Home AJ's Vaper
Hearth & Home Louisiana Red
Hearth & Home Virginia Spice
Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake
Burley: (I'm not a burley expert)
Prince Albert
Carter Hall
Mac Baren London Burley
Cornell & Diehl Haunted Bookshop
Aromatics:
Cornell and Diehl Autumn Evening
Peter Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake
Lane 1Q
Lane BCA
Peter Stokkebye Cherry
English:
Peter Stokkebye Proper English
Sutliff Nightcap Match
(F&K) Lancer's Slices
Other?:
Sutliff Voodoo Queen
Mac Baren: HH Old Dark Fired Ready Rubbed
Of course, I didn't do that! I researched a bunch of forum discussions about favorite/best blends, and started collecting.
See if there is a local pipe club. They are friendly guys, and will typically share when they find out you are new.

Thanks Bryan! I appreciate the time it must have taken to type that out! Closest pipe clubs look to be in Buffalo and they are on week nights. Will be tough to get there since its probably about a hour and a half drive. I am hoping to get to the closest smokers choice that may have at least some basic stuff to get started.

Don't worry about it. I'm pretty sure I can hit something from every one of Bryans suggested groups. At least enough to set you in the right direction.

I'm just saving someone a little money. Thats all. Consider it a one sided newbie sampler trade.
