Inaugural Tobacco of the Month Nominations

Hey everyone! Glad to see some friends from Puff here and very happy that @Tobias Lutz clued me in to this place. Anyway, over on Puff we had a Tobacco of the Month poll. Basically, I'll put up the nomination thread about a week before the end of the month (late start this month I know but I think we can all agree there are mitigating circumstances here!). For about 4 days I'll accept nominations. Then I'll put the poll up for 3-4 days. When the poll is finished, providing there isn't a tie (I really hate those! lol) I'll post the TOTM review thread in the Pipe Related Review section. Then you guys smoke (or if you don't have it this is a great excuse to get it!) a couple bowls and tell us all what you think of it. Also, at the end of the year I will do a Tobacco of the Year poll. Same concept as the TOTM.

So, without further ado, I'll start the nominations off with one of my favorite tobaccos:

Three Oaks Syrian - Rare Syrian Latakia, with its renowned mellow smokiness, is balanced with naturally sweet Orientals and aged Virginia leaf to create a satisfying blend reminiscent of classic Syrian Latakia blends of old. Formulated by Tad Gage to reflect the character of original Three Oaks Pipe Tobacco, it tantalizes with intriguing differences.

Alright boys and girls! Have fun with this! It's not a contest, it's just something for fun and to expose people to new types of tobacco.

I was going to nominate something I already have in my cellar, as an excuse to pop the top; but all of these are so good, I'm going to go along with these nominations and vote on what I want to try the most!

    Nice nominations everyone!

Ok the nominations are rolling in! This is great! Glad you guys are enjoying this already. Let's have one or two more then I'll set up the poll!

SG Kendal Cream Flake - This selection of blended Burley and Virginias offers a mild and creamy smoke from a medium density flake. With an added essence, the pipe smoker who derives pleasure from an easy to rub out flake will certainly enjoy Kendal Cream Flake.

HH Old Dark Fired - A bold flake of dark-fired burleys in a well balanced unity with Flue-cured Virginias. This flake is Hot Pressed, meaning that during the pressing, heat is added by steam to the tobaccos which causes the tobacco to intensify the marrying process giving us a bolder tobacco. The robust, earthly flavour of the dark-fired burleys shines through in the taste, and you will experience a deeply satisfying smoke indeed.

Solani Aged Burley Flake - A skillful mixture of three aged Burley's - dark brown Burley from Kentucky, light Burley from Brazil, and white Burley from Malawi - Southeast Africa. A very natural blend with absolutely no additives or flavors - a true Burley blend.

Esoterica Penzance - A wonderful complex secret recipe of the finest Virginia, choice Turkish and Orientals and Cyprian Latakia, all hand blended together, hard pressed and broad cut into thick flakes. Long matured and easily crumbled to facilitate pipe filling.

1792 Flake - Full strength, mellow tobacco comprising a blend of dark-fired Tanzanian leaf. Made in England.
Notes: This is a full strength, mellow tobacco comprising a blend of dark fired Tanzanian leaf. It is Gawith's best-selling premium grade flake. It starts as 7 lbs. of hand stripped leaf and goes through a steaming process prior to being pressed. The cake, having been prepared, is wrapped in a select leaf and packed by hand into a 12 inch square. This cake is pressed and left for a minimum of two hours. Then, the pressed cake is placed into a steam press where it is baked at full heat for two to three hours. The baked cake has then taken on 1792's characteristic rich, dark color. It's hardening occurs during cooling. Once the process of cutting the flake and adding a tonquin flavor is carried out, hand wrapping and packing finalizes 1792, making it ready for rubbing into your pipe. Also sold as Cob Flake in Europe.

Prince Albert - Crimp-cut, mild smoking mixture. Made in the USA.
Notes: Pipe Tobacco Hall of Fame Inductee. The Prince Albert Blends were introduced by R.J Reynolds in 1907. R.J. Reynolds sold the brand to the John Middleton Tobacco Company, Limerick, PA, in 1987, who has been producing it ever since.
