Cigar tobacco in pipes?

I tried to get into pipes, but once I realized they'd never give me the "pull" and smoke output of a cigar, I gave up. I think it's hard to make the transition if you're a longtime cigar smoker, personally. I don't doubt that pipers love their 'baccy, though. Just not for everyone. I'm glad I started off with a Meerschaum rather than an expensive one...
