Cornell & Diehl has issued a recall:

URGENT: WE’D LIKE IT BACK

CORNELL & DIEHL, SMALL BATCH CAROLINA RED FLAKE PRODUCT RECALL

We’re asking that customers return to us C&D’s Small Batch product, Carolina Red Flake, tins serialized 1–2,400 [ALL TINS]. We have received various reports from customers that this product is 1) prone to mold and/or 2) molded upon opening. We urge consumers to not use this product and we urge retailers to cease selling this product, simply because it fails to live up to our minimum quality standards.

I have a tin of this sitting...I have seen a lot of these mold stories on a couple forums and reddit...

Makes me think I should pop it open, even though I planned on aging it a while...

I went ahead and popped my one tin, to see if I need to send it back or not. Looks good! I went through it carefully. And seeing no traces of mold, I jarred it up, so I can keep an eye on it.
I kept about 2 bowls with out, for testing purposes.
