    Broken Meerschaum unsmokeable?

I was recently gifted the below meerschaum pipe by my mother-in-law, who picked it up for me at an estate sale. If you look at the shank in the first picture you'll see a crack. The crack actually runs all of the way around the pipe. I suspect it was previously dropped and repaired.

I was curious if anyone knew if this would still be smokeable or if it's destined to be a display piece?

    A look at his mugg.

I have one that the shank had been repaired by drilling the shank then placing a metal tube into it that fit the stem.It has a good draw and the
break is hardly noticable.Check with @Alligator Gar .

I am unfamiliar with Briarville; they may be the best that ever was.

I have used Norwoods for repairs and custom stems for years and they always do a flawless job. A couple of longtime100% meer smokers I know rely on them exclusively for meer work. Owner Floyd recently retired and his son has taken the reins; if trained by Dad I am sure he knows the ropes. On the web site he looks like Ted Danson with real hair.

I haven't used either of the sites .Found the one referenced in another forum. So I would lean towards Mister Moo's suggestion.

I have used Norwood's for meerschaum repairs and am happy with them. Mike Myers at Walker Pipe Repair actually referred me to them when I asked him about meerschaum repairs.
