Ok, at loooong last I've started smoking my samples. I can't/won't go into details here (PM if you need/want to know) but things got a little crazy here for a while. Anyway, here goes:

When I first got it the tobacco was vacuum sealed and hard as a brick and looked like a ribbon cut or rubbed out flake. When I cracked the seal my nose was greeted with a stunningly beautiful aroma! I smelled figs first and foremost with a hint of plum. I fluffed it up a little and it was still nice and moist but dry enough to light right out of the bag. So far so good!

I used the "Three Pinch" method to pack my piped.

I used matches to light. On the initial light the tobacco caught quite nicely but quickly went out. However, on the second light I got a good solid burn for about 20 minutes. After that I needed two more relights to finish the pipe.

The smoke was rich and very smooth with almost no bite to speak of. I could taste the plum more than the fig (which was totally ok for me) and was occasionally surprised by a sugary sweetness on my tongue, almost like someone dropped a few grains of sugar there. Not overly sweet but just enough to keep it interesting.

Overall I enjoyed this tobacco immensely! As did my padawan learner whom I am instructing in the ways of the pipe. I generally prefer something a little more woodsy but this was very, very good. I would say this would be a great "dessert tobacco". I have zero idea what brand, make, or whatever but I do know that I like it and would love to know what it is so I can add it to my cellar.
