Last week I bought a box of cigars from Small Batch Cigars, no shipping charges and I received it within 48 hours. Sunday I ordered a box from Holts, paid an extra five dollars for shipping. The scheduled delivery is still a week out.
So for free one outfit ships first class overnight, while the other charges five dollars and sends it in a slow brown truck. What am I missing here? No Bueno

It's the logistics of where you live Alan. If I'm not mistaken SB is on the west coast, so time in transit is only a day or two. Plus they use priority shipping so everyone gets a guaranteed two day max time in transit. The brown truck from the east coast to the west coast has a 7 day time in transit unless you swallow the 3, 2 or 1 day option. In which case they make you pay through the nose.
It's sad that the larger retailers don't give better delivery rates. They typically get "volume" discounts. If a smaller retailer like SB can give free priority shipping, why can't the larger ones?
Finally they showed up, nine days in a brown truck! I'm stacking cigars like cordwood, time for more bombing runs.
