I heard once you go punch you never go back. So far that holds true for me.
I've always used a punch.. but a friend turned me on to the V cutter.
That's all I use now, even on torpedo's
I almost always v cut unless a tight draw then I guillotine. Just makes for a cleaner experience for me.... Less stray tobacco.
I used my xicar scissors almost exclusively until I got my perfect cutter. Haven't used anything else since. I wouldn't mind getting a decent punch though it's been a decade or more since I had one and I always liked the punch cut.
Guillotine. I don't even eff with other cuts, period.
I'm a fan of a guillotine cut, with my goal to cut JUST the cap off and even the filler(generally cutting less than 1mm of the filler). I like V-cuts on torpedos but I normally just use my straight cutter because it's front and center instead of in the drawer. I've tried punching cigars but haven't done it often because my punch is huge(the free one from the Monte lounge) and it doesn't travel well.
XiKar V-cut
I use tothers situationally of course/ as needed. But you asked what my favorite is....
Just a gol darned cotton picking minute!
I just got a piercer from Cheap Humidors tother day and haven't used it yet! Things could change!
