Wow, Someone Knows Me
Broke down and boght a cooler. Bought HCM beads for rh.Transfer cigars I plan on smoking to my desktop humidor and now there is balance in my world... Until my cooler is filled... Which it is quickly becoming.
Mr. Simpson, don't you worry. I saw an episode of Matlock in a bar last night. The sound was down, but I think I got the gist of it.

Rhymes with "seed"
I've had to keep myself to a strict budget to avoid this problem. Sorry, that should read "problem"

Good advice from all the above. For me, smoking is seasonal pretty much. I buy and stock up during the winter when all the promos and sales are out and smoke from spring to fall since I dont smoke in the house. That doesnt mean I dont buy all year round on the internet and my local stores. But this way, some of the smokes can age and I have stock to smoke. Do I have more than I can smoke in a "season'? Sure do cause like everybody I cant resist looking at the new stuff that comes out every year. The main thing is find what you like, experiment once in a while and like others have cautioned, dont over extend your budget. Relax and enjoy, the slope has got us all

While everyone is talking "cooler", let me suggest "Snapware". I've just recently outgrown 4 desktop humidors of various sizes, and have expanded into creating 3 new "Tupperdors" - but in my case, instead of Tupperware, the name brand is Snapware. There is a gasket on this brand that seals better than any wooden humidor. I toss in 2 Boveda packs (65rh) and I'm set for a few months.
Advantages:
SIZE - These ones will hold about 40-50 cigars, but you can get the size that fits your predicament the best. Most coolers begin at a fairly large size, which can create a problem with too much space (your RH is likely to rollercoaster more than in a smaller space).
SEAL - The gasket creates a virtual air-tight compartment. Coolers and wooden humidors are going to leak a bit more comparatively.
MAINTENANCE - Two Boveda packs will drive your RH for several months, lasting longer in Snapware than they do in a typical humidor setting. And your RH reading should be spot-on. In fact, I'm comfortable now not having a digital hygrometer in each one since the Boveda packs are so accurate and dependable.
CREATION - I get several sheets of Spanish Cedar from my local B&M to line the bottom and the walls, cut them to size, put in my cigars and Bovedas, and I'm set. VERY easy to get it up and running.

Full-on Scraggly Bum
My Original plan was to keep 250ish sticks in my humidors to smoke and then some boxes in a big sterilite to age.
Now that I'm at 2 Large desktops, 1 54qt sterilite, and a mini fridge and excess of 700 sticks I kind of wish I had just gone with an Aristocrat from day 1.....or a walk in..that may have actually been better for me lol

Happiness? A good cigar, a good meal, a good cigar and a good woman - or a bad woman; it depends on how much happiness you can handle- George Burns

Jumpin’ Railcars and Collectin' Cans
I think part of your decision will be based on the temp swings of your house. Does it get above 70 in your house regularly during the summer months? If so, go wineador. If not, or if you have a basement that holds a steady temp at or below 70, a cooler or tupperware style container will be perfectly fine, and cheaper. Then, you can fill a desktop with what you'll be smoking in the immediate future and can let those in your cooler rest/age.

I say cooler for the same reason I tell people to start with a tupperdor instead of a humidor. If you ever don't want to use it for cigars anymore it still has a practical use it was made for so you'll get your moneys worth. You can't just empty out your cab and load it up with ice and beer its kind of a one trick pony lol.

I've considered this myself. I'd be surprised if anyone with couple humidors hasn't. I guess I never got the temp thing. I keep my place around 72 degrees and never have a problem, but my wife likes to keep her white wine for several years, so I think the wine cooler would be a better investment. One day I'd like to build a cabinet that houses a wine cooler and has space for a 200 ct desktop, and elevated rack in the back for more wine and scotch.
