    What to do next

I have fallen victim to the slippery slope. In very little time I have gone from a Ziploc and a water pillow to being cramped for space in two humidors. Instead of buying yet another large desktop and repeating the cycle, I'm thinking about building a coolidor. But I've been told that those too will fill quickly and soon I'll be wishing I'd just used the money to invest in a cabinet.

To those of you have encountered this problem, what did you do? Would you do it differently today?

    Best,

    Austin

The best way to not buy too many cigars is to get married. With my wife I don't have the money or space for a huge stash.

But seriously, a large cooler should be plenty unless you are buying a lot more than you can smoke in a year. Id recommend looking at how often you smoke and use that to figure out a decent number of sticks to aim for. Too many and they might start losing flavor before you get to them.

That of course flies out the window if you specifically want to age a box for several years. In that case id ignore the baxes you want to age while determining your cigar total to keep on hand.

For me that number would be 150-175. Roughly a year of smoking. I'm no where near that high yet.

Nah, do the Coolidor. It has held out very well for me to keep me happy with my stock!

I have used it all...started with a desktop, then 2 of them, then a mini fridge and the 2 humidors, then a converted cabinet and then after life kicking me in the balls I ended up with a cooler...its cheap, its easy and it fits in my closet.

Unless my wife decides differently and when I need more storage I will stay with coolers.

It depends on how many cigars are enough for you. I seem to have leveled out at 250-300 cigars and feel content. I have about 75 that I plan on aging and the remainder gives me a good selection to smoke from. A good cooler and a couple #'s of beads works very well for me and requires very minimal maintenance.

I suggest you not get in a hurry in loading up on focus on smoking and acquiring cigars that you truly enjoy. Otherwise a year or two from now you will have a bunch of cigars you won't really want to smoke.

And one more thing, if is very easy to spend more money on cigars than can be easily afforded. So please stay within your means. Now have fun and enjoy this great hobby.

Some folks are better of leaving them at the local B&M in my opinion. Removes all the risk of drying out or risking your hard earned money or the smokes. But with so many choices and sales coming out all the time it is a slippery slope indeed.

    Do the cooler thing.

I have my original humi, and my favorite one still, but ditched the rest for coolers. Much more efficient and practical. Easier to maintain. Cheap. All good things :tu
