    What?! On what planet?

    I've always put the slow side (side with unburned leaf/filler/wrapper) to the top.
    the theory is that;
    Heat rises, so it will then encourage the combustion of the laggard side. I have always experienced this to be true.
    I have also always experienced that doing the opposite move will exacerbate the problem.

    Sounds like we need a poll...

    I'm with Old Smokey. The oxygen on the lower side (top side suffocated with smoke) encourages combustion. Poll is needed indeed.
    To smoke is human; to smoke cigars, divine.

    My mind is officially blown about whether to keep the slow side up or down. I've always just touched up the burn with a torch blast.

    Yup, I used to think the same way as fiddlegrin but read on here you put the slow side down instead of up and it works. Would make for a good poll. But those that vote to have to slow side up would be wrong.

    Is this going to be one of those epic debates like Mac VS PC or toilet paper roll hanging over or under?

    That depends, have you ever encountered a roll of t.p. that had printing on it? ( like trivia questions or something)

    Curious to the conditions you were smoking in too, was it breezy or windy, that could of added to it. But that doesn't seem like anything out of the norm for a Padron Thousand Series to me.

    That's what it looks like to me and I have a lot of experience with lighting cigars unevenly.

    I think the bigger issue is that you may need a refresher on how to use an ashtray.

    I never remember to take the pic before I light the cigar.
