I just wanted to share some photos of an awesome discovery I made in my grandparents' farm house over Christmas vacation.

This farm has been in my family for 3 generations and is over 100 years old. Christmas Eve Day while I was visiting, I found a couple of old empty cigar boxes in a closet. Inside were a bunch of letters and legal documents postmarked from 1936-1945 as well as my great-grandfather's pipe and cigarette case. It made my day that I could still smell the tobacco from the pipe

i love that pipe tobacco smell. my grandfather always stored his pipes in a drawer in the serving buffet which my parents now have and that drawer still smells like pipe tobacco even without the pipes and all these years later. very sweet find!!!!

Letters like that are absolutely amazing.

I stumbled across my grandfathers diaries that he kept while he was fighting in WWII. It was an amazing find for me, made me feel like he was there with me and I had a few more moments with my Papa.

Oh man! That is awesome. There was one document that was an account of all of the expenses for the farm by year for like 10 years... $1.60 for a YEAR'S chicken feed

Ha, nope! My husband has taken up pipe smoking recently and I gave it the old college try but blek!

Cool Find Kayla, Depending on the years mention on your cost sheets, $1.60 could have been a years wages for many.
you could always pack the cigarette case with cigarillos for work or from work ,,,,whichever,,,
