    How do you keep stock?

So it hit me today that my current process of keeping "inventory" (funny word for my little collection) isn't going to work much longer. I usually keep my little black book with my cigar jars and keep track of when my orders show up to keep date/quantities in check. Had a Quesada Tributo come with last months order and 2 sixers of the same show up today and it started me thinking that I need a better way to keep things organized as my inventory continues to grow. How do you keep inventory? How do you keep multiples from different orders in check? Sharpie marker to the cello of each with the date?

I used to keep a spreadsheet going. but then I started buying more stuff that I could keep track of. so I eventually gave up trying to keep it all straight. now if I see a deal I can't pass up I just buy it and not worry about it

I have a spread sheet and like others it was hard to keep up with. Now I just use the sheet to keep track of what I bought or was given, price and whether I would buy them again.

I should have created an excel spreadsheet but it got out of control before I got around to transferring it to excel...So I have a couple of word documents that is my entire inventory. Each line has the name, size and how/when I got it. Example: "Liga Privada No. 9 Robusto Oscuro – 5/52 – $8.50(titlowda, 06.10.2011)" One line = one cigar, so if I buy a bundle of 10, there are 10 identical lines.

I have a couple of different documents; one has everything ever including if it was gifted, sold or smoked by putting a symbol before the line such as an "*" or a "@"
A second document has only what is left in stock.

I don't bother. Every 3-4 months I physically go through everything, organize, rotate a little and look for any potential problems. Thankfully none found so far. Also gives me a chance to take a little mental inventory. I have about 300 cigars.

Sure did, pretty much the only place I buy from. Haven't tried them but going off some recommendations, a dozen sticks for $34, I'll give them a go.

Started out with the best of intentions to & getting all kinds of advice. Thanks to the words of wisdom from BOTL's that advised it can get out of hand, become a pain in the ass, and detract from the joy of the hobby, I quit. Same as @Old Smokey ....every 3 mos or so, rotate, examine, note, and add to or edit original list. Finding something you forgot you had, can be pretty killer on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
