Special occasion?
What constitutes as a special occasion? I am getting better, but I have struggled with smoking and enjoying many of my best (perceived) cigars and only very rarely smoking them. Maybe just waking up should qualify as a special occasion?
Don't get me wrong, IMO I smoke well, but I have some that I have never tried that I have had for almost 3 years. It really seems stupid to not smoke them.
Anyone else struggle with this? What is it, some kind of pride of ownership?

Bummin' Around
I'm with ya, brother. I have a bunch of "special occasion" cigars that never seem to get smoked because I'm waiting for some monumental occasion which never seems to come.
I'm starting to come around to the thinking that smoking said cigar IS the special occasion. The day becomes special - get it?

Lost no more
Don't age any, other than the brief time they may spend in the humidor before being set alight, sure do like getting my hands on some with age. Figure cigars are meant to be smoked, so that's what I do.

Sounds right. Tomorrow I am meeting a friend at the lounge and I am going to take and smoke from the best I have. I think I will grab one for him too.

Every day I wake up and get out of bed feeling good is a special occasion. So many people younger than me passing away,
I feel special every day
Couple of things I've learned. I like good Bourbon and hate wet toilet paper.

Wow, Someone Knows Me
Smoking my best cigars always feels like I'm taking money out of my savings. I guess it's because I usually only have one of each of my best. If I had several or a box, I'd more likely try one on regular occasions.

I think it used to be that I was worried about being able to get more if I really loved that "speshul" cigar. Sir Rockets 30 Days of Singles had been a good reminder for me to smoke 'em if I've got 'em.
Now I've got one cigar set aside for when I finish school, but that's about it except for the box I bought to smoke one from each year on my daughter's birthday.

Hairy Cigar Fairy
I have a small 50 count humidore for special occasions. When it is too full every day is a special occasion.

Can't say I usually buy any special occasion type cigars that I plan on holding for something, but you Bums send me some really nice smokes that I tend to hold on to (perhaps waiting for a special day) longer than I probably should. Time to get smoking !
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

Seems like we've all been guilty of it to some extent. I received some really nice HTF cigars when I first started out a couple years ago that I set aside because I knew my palette wasn't ready to really appreciate them. I still have a few of them that I look at from time to time and think not yet. But with the 30 days of singles thread and my birthday this weekend I'm setting fire to at least one of those bad boys. The only thing I'm really saving for a specific occasion is 1 for my when my wife graduates college, and I have a couple form when my oldest graduates high school
I don't have emotions, and sometimes that makes me very sad.
