Jumpin’ Railcars and Collectin' Cans
Don't really have any special occasion sticks waiting, but I do have a few nicer ones that I have only one or two each of, so I usually keep them in wait until I have time to really sit down and do nothing but enjoy them. Most times when I'm smoking, it is when I have something else going on...yard work, grilling, etc.
Maybe since the weather is finally threatening to be nice, we can get back to camping and I'll have plenty of time for these more choice smokes, just sitting by the fire.

Don't get me wrong, IMO I smoke well, but I have some that I have never tried that I have had for almost 3 years. It really seems stupid to not smoke them.
Anyone else struggle with this? What is it, some kind of pride of ownership?
It is stupid to not smoke them but youre not alone. I have a bunch of one-of sticks that I often reach for only to pull my hand back & out of the humi at the last minute. Ill even resist smoking the last of a few 5ers that are lying around.
As for special occasions like graduations, weddings, birthdays, Ill usually grab something I know is good but that I dont have to pay much attention to.
I typically smoke my best cigars solo tbh, I lean more toward introverted and its kind of how I recharge my batteries.

Not really serious but.,
Special Occasions,times,events.
Special friends.
Special cigars.
Time.
Over time some friends may have moved away, gone away, etc.
Fewer meet-ups, get to gethers ,etc.
You may well forget about some friends.
Some of the no longer around friends of yore , may well now be missing the old gang sort of thing.
Alone, feeling forgotten.
Nowreplace the word friend with cigar.
That special friend (cigar) is sitting there, usually in the dark, passed over, as newer cigars, come and go.
Set him (that once so special cigar )free.
Out of the dark, into the light...free.
All you gotta do is light a match.
.
.
.
.
Time for me to set flame to my one old Cubao.
Just cant leave sitting there in the dark any longer.

Amen Don! I took my first ambulance ride a couple month's ago. My wife said I had some kind of seizure and looked like I quit breathing as my face turned blue. Doctors never figured out what happened. So I now go with "Everyday is a holiday, and every meal is a banquet". I started smoking stuff I was tucking away.....
Like my father before me, I will work the land,
And like my brother before me, I took a rebel stand.

"Special Occasions" is a broad catagory ranging from births, deaths, marriages (and sometmes, divorce), new job or promotion, the list goes on. Even getting out of bed in the morning is cause to celebrate. Like

said, I see too many people in the course of my job younger than me who are complete trainwrecks when it comes to their health. And I'm no Mr. Atlas, have health issues of my own.
I don't usually buy singles. If it's a new to me stick, I'll buy a couple. Last special occasion that I used to smoke an expensive cigar was two weeks ago, when I put my dog to sleep. He was a great dog, and it was the hardest decision I've ever made. But he deserved a celebration of life with something special.
But that was snap decision. Don't save many sticks for those special occasions. Don't need to. If I need something for say, my son getting married, all I need to do is talk to local cigar bar owner, and he'll hook me up.

I've got a few that I can't just hop down to the B&M and replace any time I want to, so I say I'm saving them for a special occasion. I'm not sure what that is. I have one semester left on my bachelor's degree so maybe I'll fire one up then, I dunno. I'll be 36 years old when I receive my bachelor's so I don't know if that's a special occasion or not. lol
My best friend from high school is moving back home after being away nearly 18 years so that will call for some special sticks. He's bringing the Glenlivet 18 so I'll supply a couple of nice sticks. Maybe a couple of Sharks or a couple of Padron 1926s. We'll see.
Check out my Youtube channel, Razorback Piper Guy if you like that sort of thing.
