Noted, although it may be gone by the time I roll around to buying any cigars lol
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

Ha ha! Are you feeding birds or squirrels?
Had a visit from this impressive predator while smoking.
Cooper’s Hawk
Cool to see, but I don’t exactly like to see them in my yard. I’ve lost a few birds in my yard to these guys.
Had a nesting pair of chickadees in a bird house in my yard last year. They are making a comeback in the area after a decline from bird flu several years ago. I found evidence that it got one of the parents, the male I think. Unfortunately, the remaining parent couldn’t keep up with the feeding and the brood was lost.
Have also seen them make an unsuccessful attempt on some foraging doves near my patio. I’ve seen them take sparrows as well as leaving evidence behind of other successful kills.

I put out food for both the squirrels and birds but that squirrel is on a feeder that is one of the bird ones (supposed to be squirrel proof, not a one is successful).
We have a pair of nesting red shoulder hawks behind our house. Last year I got to see their chick learn to fly and eventually hunt. I never saw a successful kill but I watched quite a few attempts.

That’s cool stuff Kayla. I love sitting outback and watching nature during the spring. I have to thin out the squirrels every couple of years. But I bought a live trap and relocate to a park with huge oak trees and lots of other squirrels. There is a big nesting tree just across the back fence with at least 2 deep holes where they have their babies. So I wait until the babies are well on their own and set the trap.
My dog and I were piddlin around in the garden this morning and he spotted a garter snake. I don’t know which one was the most scared. We always have at least 2 litters of rabbits born under the shed. We have several hawks in the area and they seem to eat a lot of rabbit and squirrels.
Enjoy and care for your parents, once they are gone you become an orphan!
