I’ve always been a bit of a bird watcher, but with the typical work schedule I had, I tried to keep up on the feeders in the winter, but wouldn’t see any benefits as it was dark when I got home.

I bet you get a lot more variety down there!! Especially in the winter.

Painted buntings? How cool! I hear indigo buntings in the summer here, but rarely see them.

I have been using a few apps to help with ID. iBird Pro, Merlin, eBird for tracking/reporting. BirdNET will analyze sound and help with ID. Merlin also has this feature built in, but is more automatic. Merlin is supposed to have a automatic photo ID, but I don’t have the equipment to get a good enough, close-up photo.

I use the Merlin ap and then do checklists for ebird every week or so. I rarely use the Merlin photo ap because I, too, have trouble getting a clean enough photo, but the sound recognition is the BOMB!

Ah, I see....and I just loaded up on lost and founds and restocking some HVC. I guess I could always use an excuse to buy more tats though.

Man O' War Side Project: Phalanx

Very tasty first half, a solid medium and great smoke volume. 2nd half increased in strength dramatically and became very full. I had difficulty finishing it.
